I don’t disagree with you that I think it’s just a bad thing to do to your teammates. But, I’m not gonna waste heartbeat on it.
Wow! I hope you will have to eat those words about our newest Gator. When Mizzou and UF met this season, Dixon had almost identical stats as Beason. She did this as the second-best player on the team with a poor surrounding cast. Beason earned her stats with an outstanding cast and one of the best setters in the nation. Check out Dixon's bio too: Anna Dixon | 6-3 | OH | High School: Louisburg | Hometown: Louisburg, Kan. Career Honors 2022 USA Volleyball Collegiate National Team 2020 All-SEC 2019 USA Volleyball Women's Junior National Team 2019 All-Big 12 Rookie Team She has outstanding honors for her so far 4-year college career. She is an outside hitter so I don't know yet if she can hit from the backcourt as well as Beason does. All things considered, Dixon is an outstanding addition to the team and a likely position replacement for Beason. Mary Wise was right to pick her up out of the transfer portal.
The first four months of the academic school year have been a disappointment for Gator athletic teams with the exception of VB. That is about to change. In the next several months you could witness a national championship or two, several SEC titles and a ton of victories. So sit back enjoy the ride and Merry Xmas to all you posters.
from just some people who know way more volleyball then I..Beason and several Nebraska players have been talking all year and she had her mind made up that she was going to transfer after the year and just never was going to be here next year no matter what she said in a press conference. So maybe it is better she left if she was not happy at UF.
I'll have to say she put on a good face all year. I wonder if Mary was privy to this. If so, why would she bring her to the last press conference? The team was supportive on IG. No one publicly, acted blindsided. I'll give her credit, she seemed to play hard during the season. Best of luck.
I agree, Beason played hard until the final whistle. She was a class act at the press conference, her final obligation as team captain. She has never said one disparaging thing about UF to this very day. Everyone knows that players are year-to-year. No one batted an eye when Riley Fischer left last year ... and that was to an SEC opponent. While its infinitely more disappointing when someone of Beason's caliber leaves, there shouldn't be a double standard based on player ability. The bottom line for me is still the same. She gave her all for the Orange and Blue until the very end (unlike T'ara Ceasar -- still bitter about that one). So, I too wish her the best of luck.
I dont think our team had privy to it, and of course the team will be supportive as far as the girls. You guys act like someone has to give up to want to move on, if they are a true athlete of course they are going to go all out while they are out there playing. You think people cant get information after the fact that it happens and the beans got spilled somehow. I have no ill will since I am just basically a fan who watches and cheers on team. Looks like we got a good replacement also
I'm sorry if I got under your skin a little. I'll admit I was very shocked when I heard this news and had a little heartburn with Merritt. But, I now only wish her well in her new environment. I know people can get news from the athletic department after the fact, as you are a prime example of that. I appreciate the information you bring to all the boards and would never question what you bring. You have been spot on. After reviewing some film, I also believe we got a good replacement.
not under my skin at all, no worries. I just didnt explain myself the best either in the first post and in some cases fans have the right to be upset and vent. Everyone has got to know in every sport there is back channelling going on. It feels like we got that treatment there, but wish her the best also.
I don't understand all these congratulatory remarks from current and former players. Don't people bleed orange and blue anymore? I'm old fashioned and I believe once a Gator always a Gator. Do any of you think Tim Tebow would have left this program for any reason after his sophomore season? I think not. So Merritt, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
One of the things I have come to realize is that these players do not all bleed Orange and Blue the way they used to. NIL is not helping either.
Check the Nebraska roster. Four returning OHs including a third team All American. Beason will have to show some merit to even be a starter.
I don't think this has been touched on yet, but if these talks between Beason and Nebraska have been going on since before the start of the 2022 season, could be when Beason played summer volleyball on the national team, this could be tampering involved by Nebraska. I doubt the UNL players were conducting such talks without a wink and a nod from the coaches. If so, that is a recruiting violation that could lead to a penalty for UNL and Beason having to change her relocation plans. If Mary Wise has proof that this occurred, she should turn UNL in for NCAA violations. I hope Wise has the proof and she turns UNL for a recruiting violation. Mess with the Florida Gators and you get chomped! Merrit Beason is Gator Bait!
Oh My! You also referenced Gator volleyball as a "Wait till Next Year" program. Never mind that you used the phrase completely out of context of its originally meaning of having never won an SEC Championship when the Gators have won far more SECs than any other volleyball program. It's hard to overlook you when you do such things. Look at poor pitiful me! I'll never be happy until Gator volleyball wins a national championship! Enjoy your volleyball misery!
Why not Penn State? Unless I miscounted, they have more national titles than any other program: DI Women's Volleyball Championship History | NCAA.com She could have stayed at UF with an opportunity to make history. Instead, Beason chose to throw out her captainship of the team like just so much trash she had to take out when she left her dorm room.
