Trump is an idiot and needs to go away. But again, the almost perverse infatuation some of you have with Trump is amusing. Like I said in a previous post…some of you should charge rent to Trump for living inside your heads.
I, for one, view trump as a threat to my way of life. I will continue to highlight his idiocy, criminality and repulsiveness to wear away the resolve of his duped supporters. I could give a rat's ass whether you find that amusing or not. Merry Christmas
It’s an obsession, not an infatuation. Make no mistake about it - this is pure hatred. And he will be living rent free in my head until he is no longer a threat to our country. Counting on folks like yourself to save us from the Trump nightmare in the GOP primaries.
Unless the Republican Party changes the way it allocates delegates it's not beyond the realm of possibility that Trump could pull the proverbial rabbit out of the hat like he did in 2016. The "winner" of a Republican primary almost always ends up with a disproportionate share of the delegates sometimes all of them even if he wins by a small plurality. In a crowded field a candidate can win most of a state's delegates with well under 40 percent of the vote. Not making a prediction but it wouldn't be surprise me to see Trump ending up as the first nominee of a major political party to lose the popular vote in the general election three times in a row. One example from 2016 was South Carolina in which Trump was awarded all 50 of the state's delegates even though he received only 32.5% of the primary vote. Another example was Alabama in which Trump ended up with all of the state's delegates even though he received 43.4% of the votes. In Florida Trump was awarded all 99 of the state's delegates while receiving 45.7% of the vote.
Totally agree. I could see him building a lead early in a crowded field by winning 30-40% while the "normal" candidates split the 60%-70% of the vote that doesn't want him. The good candidates drop out, and it's a replay of 2016... It's probably best for the democrats because Trump would be the easiest to beat in 2024... Only way I see Biden winning is if it's Trump-Biden for 2024.

Oh, come on. Trump was in office as president of the United States and the most powerful man in the world less than two years ago. He's already announced that he's running again in 2024. And though he trails DeSantis is some polls, in others he's still Republicans' No. 1 choice for the GOP nomination. And he even leads Biden or Harris in some general election polls. Beyond that, a sizable number of Americans, including the majority of Republicans, think he really won the 2020 election. More than 100 candidates who claimed the election was stolen won their Republican primaries. Now, in the midst of all that, Trump released a public statement on Christmas morning. It's kind of ridiculous, I think, to claim that no one should be talking about how hateful and selfish his Christmas message was.

Yes, but he has become a cause of cognitive dissonance for many of them. They don't view themselves as the type of people that would support this sort of stuff. But they did (and many still do, push comes to shove). That causes cognitive dissonance. So out come the defense mechanisms, mostly avoidance and denial.
Boy, what I'd give to have old "mean tweets" back (as in the man between January 2017 and November 2020, the man after November 2020 has to just go away). Not doing that is about all Joe Biden has going for him.
Lot of hate and divisiveness on both sides. That's how we got Trump in the first place. The midterms showed that America has had enough of the worst of Trump, which some candidates illustrated, but that they liked the best of Trump (DeSantis). In general, though, I would agree that America has had enough of Trump as a whole because of the baggage. By the end of his presidency it just became too much for myself included.
I think that's true now but I still wouldn't count Biden out in 2024 no matter who ends up with the Republican nomination whether it's Trump, DeSantis or someone else. Although I may be overly optimistic the economy should be better in 2024 than it is now and that should benefit the incumbent. Although it is impossible to predict how and to what extent there is a good chance that the Republican nominee whomever ends up with the nomination could be bloodied through a contentious primary campaign and finally there is Trump himself. If he doesn't end up with the nomination he will almost certainly claim that it was stolen from through fraud and enough his supporters could end up staying home even if Trump himself doesn't run as an independent/third party candidate.
