You may have missed it, but you can probably guess that he's not a fan of players not finishing the commitments they made to the team

Nor am I. It would make sense with the culture he is attempting to build.

Big difference between a rebuild in college football compared with college basketball, even more pronounced with NIL across sports.

Does every school have an NIL budget and is it shared in some way equitably between sports and genders. For instance, does the Gator Gymnastics team warrant a piece of the larger pie since they are a top 5 program with Trinity Thomas a potential Olympian?

Similarly with USCe basketball program, where the women are heavily favored to defend their national championship, while the men's team is rated the lowest in the SEC.

Then you have a program like Villanova, which has a high profile basketball team but their football team is in a smaller school category. Take it even more extreme to Gonzaga.

Lastly, when Anthony Richardson opted to run pro, was he being paid for the season and who would have renewed or renegotiated it had he stayed. Will much of those funds go to our two incoming QBs including a freshman?

Subtract from 85 scholarships we have 51. Add the 20 signees puts us at 71. Mertz, Banks, Livingston and Mitchell will count so I count we have room for another 10 from the portal.

    Appreciate that.

That would make a roster turnover of 59 spots or roughly 70% in just under 14 months. Incredible

Because he’s methodical and wanted to give the players a fair chance to go through his offseason program and play a season. That’s my view.

And I bet all the Deion nuthuggers won’t have any issue with it when he does this at Colorado, even though they’re throwing fits over here about Napier.

Just like the guy here who’s been on Brian Kelly’s nuts all year didn’t have a problem with him turning over their roster last year, but has been crying about damn near every transfer we’ve had.

Dude worked his a$$ off got in shape and brought his lunchpail to every play. He certainly wasn't O'Cyrus Torrance, but he gave effort on every play. I get that it is not a negative that some players are transferring. This is definitely a negative.

I don’t know that this was the staff making moves. It has been mentioned that he was unhappy with his NIL arrangement and thinks he can do better. Which is fine …but it seems like he’s making a 4 yr nfl contract tradeoff, for a 1 yr 150k bump in his NIL deal. Which seems like a mistake.

He made a good size leap this year with Sale & Stapleton coaching him up. And now turning away from the 1 school that took a chance on him after his injury and he ballooned to over 400 lbs?? We should get over it and move on.

Interesting info on the NIL. I'm not sure why his nfl value would go down if he is a starter on another team and plays like he is obviously capable of. There is a lot wrong with the NFL, but one thing isn't and that is their ability to find the good players regardless of level they play on.

White is a known commodity by the NFL. Wherever he goes, as long as he continues to play well, he will get drafted.

Only thing I would say is that if you are injury prone, it might be the thing to do, to grab cash while you can. He could also not find that money either and be in a worse spot and not develop. He has only one season of consistently playing without sidelining injury. He is as much a work in progress as Leonard is, but just a bit more size. Leonard is a hard worker. Now we need Waites, another young guard and another young tackle to come on strong. It wouldn't surprise me if Kearney was one of them. He has athleticism none of the OL on our roster has.

I have no problem believing he thinks his value is more than the coaches do. College football is all business now with 100% free agency.

well, White was recruited by hevesy and Mullen for a year and played under them for I think 3 years (or is it 2?). That is 3-4 years of relationship building and choosing to play for certain coaches. He has one year under Stapleton and less under Sale (who joined after NFL season last year in January). Not surprising that White would thank those he has long standing relationships first and foremost.

I agree on your NFL take. It just seemed that he flourished this year, with this staff. It was by far his most productive year. Seems like a risk to leave. JMO

So, if White is unhappy with his current pay rate, he jumps into the portal machine, without already knowing what he might fetch somewhere else……yeah right.
