all of this. I never had big expectations for 2023 so you might as well tear it down and build towards 2024. 6 wins the goal, 8 wins next year is a huge success. and i know UF hasnt been the cream of the crop in cfp in the last few years but I just look at where the kids who are leaving are ending up at. They are going to “lesser” programs
I think it was more on bad hires than canning at first signs of adversity. A bad hire never gets better. We just had a string of not up to the task. In the same light, a head coach not updating their personnel is not a head coach. Relentless effort Too soon? I would have much rather seen the purge a year ago, but I don’t know that they would have had the time the way the dates set up.
We should avoid the players whose moms love the spotlight. Mrs. Evers and Mrs. White love promoting themselves and their kids on social media. Evers was very vocal both times Nick transferred and now White's mom is rubbing it in the nose of current staff. Ooo...you got em good, Mrs. White. You only thanked Mullen and Hev -- that will teach Napier, Stapleton and Sale a lesson. She is a child. Cormani's mom is right there with them. Maybe this is just a random coincidence?
Bingo. Not a lot of the teams we want to compete with clamoring for our transfers. But they are for the recruits BN is bringing in.
I usually love your posts, but there is so much wrong with this. I actually laughed out loud when I read the sentence of about being a playoff contender in Year 3. If we tear this thing down to the frame, nuts, and bolts (and to an uninformed outside observer, that is what it appears is being done), then we might be lucky to win 3 games in 2023....we might get back to 2022 levels by 2024 and maybe have a chance at competitiveness in 2025. Additionally, we do have a choice of whether to trust this process or not. I'm not giving up by any means, but as of today, it appears the Napier is in way over his head and is in the process of drowning while the administration is still unwilling to play the playing field as it exists in 2022. I really pray we have some kind of Christmas miracle and suddenly end up with stocking full of Portal studs instead of the coal that it looks like we are getting.
A lot will go to lesser programs....where would non-starters on a 6-7 team go? Its the productive starters that are leaving that are bothersome. Honest question, are we not the "lesser" program now?
It’s amazing how many people are unfamiliar with the term “rebuild”. If you wanted a “redecorator” then we should have hung onto Mac or Mullen. Because that’s what we had. Years of just repainting the rotted dry wall, replacing faded drapes and putting new potted plants on the front porch did not serve us well. And ultimately led to the place we are now …a complete, from the ground up, rebuild.
Of course, but how does a team become better? Do they stick with the lesser talent or do they replace with better talent? Can that talent all be brought in a year or will it take a couple of years?
Once again perception. If you have a bunch of starters leaving, the you better have big, huge, ginormous gets coming in to counter the narrative. Process guys always cause me a bit of trepidation. Maybe crunk up the process to 11.
There is a lot that led to it, and most of the blame can be placed on the Administration at UF, both athletic and above.
Keep in mind, just because they enter the portal doesn’t mean they leave. Some of these guys might not like what they see. I think it’s slightly over 50% that do.
Yep. Fans need to be patient and remember we want long term success and the previous model for the last decade didn’t work. Enjoy the process while watching the new Gators grow. 6 true freshman played last year, 5 on D and all had some very good moments with 3 Freshman All Americans. Year 2 will feature several more and possibly at QB. Recruiting was very solid this year w/a top 5 in average star ranking. 2023 will be more of the same with wins and losses but the culture will be vastly different. 2024 & 2025 will be judgement years. I’m in for the ride and I’ll be at every home game in 23 with a few road games sprinkled in. Go Gators!!!
Another thought occurs to me...if this is so, then why wait until Year 2? If this tear down was so obviously a requirement, why didn't it start Day 1? At least then we would actually have begun the rebuild mode rather than what appears to be still cutting out the dry rot.
