It's time to do away with the debt ceiling

That would be disastrously terrible, and what would almost certainly happen is the politicians would invent some accounting workarounds to try and avoid being limited by it.

Just because you like what it says or agree with does not make it the truth. Both sides fail to negotiate with each other and both sides shit all over everyone. That my friend, is the truth!

 

Getting back to the subject of this thread, it's time to do away with debt ceiling which authorizes additional debt for existing appropriations. The periodic negotiations over increasing the debt ceiling area nothing more than political theater. To the extent there have been negotiations regarding spending they have already taken place when appropriations were being negotiated.
