I am stating the obvious here when I say unless there are some good players coming for positions of need next season is going to be a real struggle! My expectations weren't too high to begin with but I didn't expect a mass exodus, this may absolutely be required for BN to change the culture of the team and I like this year's class but there is some pain ahead!
The transfer portal and not having to sit a year makes it a hell of a lot easier for guys to bail. Wasn’t always the case and it’s why you didn’t see the level of transfers like we are now. I’m guessing Nebraska for White. Mommy! This new coach is too hard. He requires and expects too much. Don’t see a lot of these kids transferring up for some reason. Some of you need meds.
still it sucks that some players opted to leave right after early signing day. Not sure it was related to NIL, but wouldn't be surprised. That whole process is clear as mud.
Yeah I don’t see how you spin your 2nd team all sec guard transferring for no apparent reason as a good thing when there is no clear replacement.
I get it man. I am in no way claiming BN gets UF to the promised land. But I’m also tired of canning coaches at the first sign of adversity. I think it’s a big part of why UF is where it’s at. UF has needed an enema for awhile. I still think it needs some at the administration level. Napier told us he looked at the program, saw it’s issues, said he could fix, said it was gonna be ugly and we wouldn’t like him very much. We are starting to see that last part. We shall see how it goes in the next couple of years.
We don’t know the entire story and everyone is gonna jump to their own conclusions. We don’t know if there isn’t a replacement either. You can spin it positively or negatively depending on your prerogative.
I'm just going to let Billy do his thing. It was just like this in May before we got really hot on the recruiting trail in June and July.
I don't know how you can spin the one guy left with a pulse on the OL leaving as a positive, but I'm sure someone will try. This guy is an instant experienced starter at the right Power 5 program.
i agree, in general. But we now have to replace 4 starting OL, and that’ll be a very hard thing to do at this point.
It may be that coaches asked players to wait till after ESD to declare. Of course that doesn’t mean they’re gonna do it
I’m not saying it’s a positive. It’s a head scratcher, but I’m not going to get antsy about it is kinda my point. We don’t know the reasons. Not much I can do about that. Everyone complained about Mullen’s lack of talent acquisition, they start leaving and everyone complains.
The way they intentionally worded that announcement clearly reveals a serious problem between White and coaches. The fact that they basically flipped off CBN, Sale, and others while touting Hevesy and Mullen on their way out suggests to me that this problem was more about White
Your points are stated well Crusher but I disagree. The “opt out”, undisciplined, selfish, shoe throwing culture he walked into was beyond managing. He has salvaged a handful of players from that toxic environment and that will have to serve as a core along with some pretty good players he brought in and a promising class coming in. I hate that so many left but they, and we will be starting fresh.
Dang on white. Have no choice folks but to trust the process. We were warned this wasn’t going to be a short term fix. I’m guessing next season we will hit rock bottom but season 3 we will be a borderline playoff contender and year 4 comfortably in the playoff. Fans need to be patient. I know it’s hard but just try please. I have a strong feeling we can become a long term juggernaut. NIL added a longer curve to the process because now to do things the right way for long term sustainability we were forced to pivot and not play the short game like tamu and um. We will become a stronger version of Michigan of today if the fans are patient. And that will be enough to win championships because our roster talent level will be better than theirs.
