Trevez Johnson and Ethan White have both officially entered the portal. Does this raise any concern amongst you about the state of the program. I'm personally ok with turnover but I'm raising my eyebrow a bit when it includes starters.
Disappointed that Jordan Young entered the portal. Don't have much experienced depth at CB and he was clearly in the mix to start next year. Thought Raymond was going to be a big advantage for DBU
Nah, we’re good. Napier is getting rid of the cancers and the malcontents. Even though all we have left are players who couldn’t even get a TD in the bowl game, I think our future is bright and he is righting the ship with players who want to be here (they just have to work on some fundamentals, like, um, you know: scoring)
It now becomes a numbers game. Napier has said he will not take a player just to fill a spot. But it would not be smart of him to have just 60 scholarship guys come August. Lets hope he is really good at portal kombat.
I imagine we will also see some Couch turnover whose positions weren’t jelling and off the field guys not pulling or pushing their weight. Or just click baitman
Losing starters is going to have a negative impact on next year's team. Need to pull some rabbits out of the hat because the noise will really ramp up with another subpar season.
The last guy, of course. We are getting pretty good at welcoming new coaches while blaming the last. We do this often.
I’m a big Napier supporter but even I am getting worried. In a 48 hour span we’ve seen four guys hit the portal. Johnson, Young, White and Tarquan. I thought we were done with the exodus. So I’m thinking it’ll be yet another year before UF rises.
Yes. There are big concerns. The word is- 3-5 of the last players that left including White and Tre’vez left because there are serious issues that go beyond Napiers plan. Napier expected a roster overhaul and 2 years of garbage with 24-25 being come back years. Then NIL happened. Then Ruiz happened. Then the portal situation threw them for a loop and apparently they’ve had to shut down their entire process and start over. UAA not helpful with Napier, nobody knows what Collective is doing. Nobody on same page. Coaches having issues. Players have issues with play calling and system. It’s a mess. None of what we are seeing at this point is “be patient, stick to the plan”. This is not the plan. This comes from people close to the deal
NIL was happening before Billy was hired here. The portal has been in effect for multiple years. Any coach that was being interviewed here that didn't have a plan for that scenario should have never been hired. Any coach that didn't understand if the UAA/UF lacked commitment to such a plan should have never taken the job unless they were just looking for a short-term payday I can understand setbacks, but surely there is a plan in place to get to where we all want to go. I just pray that Billy's plan isn't a recycled one from 2010 that he found in Dabo's trash can.
