There's another bowl game on earlier (Louisiana vs. Houston in the Independence Bowl), but I didn't feel it would be of interest. The fact that we have an SEC team playing in this one might be of more interest, so thought I'd get it going. The game will be played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa with temps expected to be in the 50's, so great football weather! Mizzou is 6-6, so like us and Baylor last night will be fighting to end with a winning record. The Demon Deacons are 7-5 and thus are 2.5 point favs.
The Gasparilla Bowl is an annual NCAA-sanctioned post-season college football bowl game played in the Tampa Bay area. It was first played in 2008 as the St. Petersburg Bowl at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. The game was renamed the Gasparilla Bowl in 2017 as a nod to the legend of José Gaspar, a mythical pirate who supposedly operated in the Tampa Bay area and who is the inspiration for Tampa's Gasparilla Pirate Festival. In May 2018, the owners announced the bowl would be relocated to Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. Since 2020, it has been sponsored by Union Home Mortgage and officially known as the Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl. From 2010 to 2013 when Beef O'Brady's was the title sponsor, the game was officially known as simply the Beef O'Brady's Bowl. Previous sponsors include magicJack (2008), Beef O'Brady's (2009–2013), BitPay (2014), and Bad Boy Mowers (2017–2019).
The Gasparilla Bowl is the third college bowl game to be played in the Tampa Bay area; the Outback Bowl has been held in Tampa since 1986 and the Cigar Bowl was played from 1947 to 1954.
Thanks for doing these threads Bazza. Go Tennessee, Mizzou, and the SEC. Hopefully our SEC teams can erase our stink.
Actually not that impressed with Hartman tonight. I actually think Mizzou‘s quarterback has a bigger upside.
Been seeing this a lot lately. Defense given time to sub when offense does with the play clock running and they sub in late or slowly causing the offense to rush or use a TO. The ref steps away from the ball with just a couple seconds left I’m sure will start to be an issue soon.
Final score: 27-17 Wake Forest! Respect to the Wake senior QB who did not opt out in the bowl game and abandon his team. And Mizzou is still a dirty team.....
