Anyone have the "scoop" on how that recruiting fiasco actually went down? I have trouble understanding how the entire Gator Nation and ALL the recruiting services got trolled so badly. I mean it was epic, almost like he was "schooled" throughout the entire process on how to punk us in the worst possible way. Or, was it just always about the highest bidder in the first place? If thats the case our staff and the Gator NIL Folks did a very poor job and are not interested in competing at the "Bag" level. I mean Wiltfong had a damn pre-made "GATOR" commit "short" video that actually got played on the TV!!!!!!!!!! Anyone????
No such thing as a lock until the dotted line is signed, especially now. Excellent player, but not a generational kind of guy that a sane program is going to break the bank to get. Kid probably liked UF quite a bit, but the bottom line is few kids have any prior emotional allegiance to any school so those bidding dollars are going to speak very loudly. Not really a reflection on UF's 'bags' or poor strategy by the staff, IMO.
Short story, as of a few minutes prior to his announcement, Car- money, assured the staff UF was his Pick. I guess you could say he shocked the world.
This was not a change because of emotions, but more a set up to make UF look bad, orchestrated by scUM with CM being complicit.
Our NIL was fine hours before his commitment. To say it wasn’t is just disingenuous & ignorance. And TBH for the life of me, I don’t understand why so many seem to prefer Miami’s NIL/Recruiting model to our own. Grown adults encouraging a 17 yr old kid to lie and troll because they think it’s funny is just being an asshole and is a real piece of shit thing to do. No thanks.
Called it correctly on this board before his announcement. Been following recruiting for a quarter century. After a while these things make sense…..or dollars and sense.
Frankly I hope Harvard and Yale get in the football business and makes everyone in the SEC and Big 10 suck hind tit..............would serve all the University Presidents and NCAA crooks right. Think about it - A huge check and "cooked up" Ivy league degree .... or Tuscaloosa Alabama............
I read on Twitter somewhere the reason he did not sign was he was having ACT score issues or something like that.
That might make sense, but we are talking about UM here....not really any academic standards if you can run, pass, block, or tackle.
And the real question....what happened to the Publix cake???[/QUOTE] I think someone left it out in the rain.
