Lagway is a year away and Rashada seems fine. The problem is mediocre talent from the portal. It you prefer Mertz with 39 td and 26 ints over three years then Merry Christmas.
Why are you going on and on about this ? We were accosted with “Where did you hear this ?” and “It’s unconfirmed” and “It’s not happening.” It obviously transpired as was being reported. And I’m fairly sanguine about it. I wouldn’t be surprised if, as starter, he represents an upgrade over AR.
I prefer to look at a recruiting class that is far better than most thought we would get, including a 5 star Qb…a top QB for the next recruiting class already committed and recruiting for us and knowing that more is one the way. If you want to be a jackass because Mertz isn’t your cup of tea.. have at it. But most of us can see that Napier is doing a good job. By the way - How much is Mertz getting? How much did the other portal qbs want/ demand? Would you rather they drop a bundle on a one year rental or save it for the next recruiting class/ more immediate needs in the portal?

Mertz is the greatest Transfer Portal QB ever!!! BN is the Greatest Recruiter period!! We will never lose another game again! You can’t go into a season with 3 qb’s. He may have to play and one of the top transfers wants money and a starting spot. We can’t bring one in if Rashada is going to play next year.
I need some of those glasses. Lol we do know how Mertz looked in a run heavy teams at Wisconsin and it wasn’t good. That is what has people concerned. Mertz has a career total of -21 yards rushing as 3 seasons as a starter and negative yards per carry. Fans thought our run game struggled with Miller at QB as he is less of a running threat than AR. Compared to Mertz, Miller is Josh Allen in the run game.

So the coaching staff is responsible that the top two QB's in the portal that they were interested in: 1) decided to stay put and 2) had a transcript that wouldn't fly with UF admissions? Please tell me which SEC school did these two transfer to?
While I'm not as doom-and-gloom as some others on this, Devin Leary would have been a much better get than Mertz and he DID go to an SEC school.
I agree, I just don't think he was really a focus early on and by the time we saw the writing on the wall it was too late.
