Oklahoma's coach is putting on an offensive clinic. And before anyone says it, this is her second season at Oklahoma as well.
To me Correa is our best player and doesn’t start. Is she hurt? I know Merritt is hurt, and she is our second best player. Yes Oklahoma is clearly the better team. They run their offense better, shoot, pass and rebound better. They look more like a mens team in that they play under control and don’t turn it over much.
we need a healthy roster, was at most of the game...had to leave beginning of 4th..didnt like how we started the game not getting it inside enough. But Kyle is the only true weapon we have down there without Merrit and Lorea tonight. Think it would have been a lot different, but is what it is. We did not compete in the first half on the boards to me and that cost us a lot.
Correa is on the sideline wearing a boot. Before everyone lynches the coach, please consider that we were without our top 3 players last night: Zippy Broughton, lost for the season before the first game; Jordyn Merritt taking an extended leave of absence; Correa out with a foot injury. That's 60% of the starting lineup, something that would be difficult for almost every team in the nation.
Didn't get to watch the game but this one didn't surprise me. We have shown some glimpses but we definitely haven't played consistently well and Oklahoma has a good team. I have a feeling SEC play is going to be a bit of a let down. There has been some tough roster attrition, but some poor management and coaching as well IMO. Really hope they turn things around, but I'd be surprised if we see Merritt again at this point.
Yes, just being able to add Merritt and Correa into the lineup would have made a huge difference last night. Didn’t know the situation with Merritt. If she is out indefinitely, then we’ve lost our three best players from last years squad, Kiki to graduation, Zippy to injury and now Merritt. Add in Correa’s injury and that’s a significant loss of talent.
Oklahoma's offense was rolling. I understand they weren't at 100%, however, I found them to be highly questionable after a bunch of close games against winless and 1-win cupcakes.
we been experimenting all year so far without Zippy. Miami was a good gauge of what we can do. But like East said we have had our top 3 players hurt or out with other issues already. It has to be weighing heavily on the ladies and last night in the first half we did not look very interested. They looked hungrier and faster to the ball. We had a very big size advantage and got dominated on the boards in the first half and I think that is where we lost it.
I have all faith in our guard play and recruiting.... serious concerns about post play and recruiting. Biggest issue is we are mismanaging the roster IMO.... just to be "Big".... but with injuries now Kelly has to be a bit bigger... though we've done it all season regardless. When Correa comes back and IF (I don't think) Merritt comes back we should never have 2 of Faith, Rashaya, or the twins on the court at the same time.
