Remains to be seen....but despite all the concerns our numbers are still a little limited, so they do need to be a little selective.
IMO, who our staff knows or recruited in the past is a factor. They've been on the job for only one year so the number of transfer kids that they have evaluated and established relationships with at the P5 level are somewhat limited. Locksley probably had some contact with him before so there was at least some familiarity. The other factor is, of course, to go to a winning program. It is something I think will take care of itself in year 3 and 4 (I hope!).
We would be better off keeping Braun and Tarquin than getting Dumervil. That is why Dumervil is going to Maryland.
Interesting, I think his younger brother just signed with Oregon. Report: DJ Uiagalelei to exit portal Oregon State
I see that we can easily, numbers wise, take 2 portal receivers with one being immediate plug and play. That’s IF Pearsall stays. If we lose Ricky you take 3. No matter what, Lovett and the other guy Ga got were immediate takes. I love Ricky but he’s an excellent #2 right now. Gotta grab starters. Ricky and Payday are the only guys that are starters. Burke May get there but right now we absolutely have to have game changers. We’ve got to get to point where when we go trips or even empty that all receivers are threats. Got to get to the point that if a starter goes down we have a guy ready to go and we don’t miss a beat.
As a depth piece, I disagree. We lost a solid one in Tarquin and it’s possible we lose another. Can’t lose starters. Hopper and Diabate were bad enough. Like him or not, Tarquin is a big loss as we have no one to replace him.
White is the bigger loss as second team all SEC. I guess OTs are harder to come by and develop. Any other Rajun Cajun OL that can come over on the portal?
