And if you look at the number of recruits most teams took it seems low. Leaving a lot of room for unsigned players. Maybe due to the extra covid year or maybe teams are waiting to see what kind of portal pick ups they can get before they fill their 85. Should shake out between now and Feb.

Wow... UGa signed more of the top 20 FL recruits than all 3 FL teams combined and are expected to sign one more. They did better in FL than they did in GA. Maybe we just need to start referring to them as the Gators North :(

Not disappointed it’s what was expected by some. Certainly not the top 5 class yet that many here were thinking Napier was getting. Time will tell.

Kirby preached it to Mullen in 2021:

    Take recruiting seriously.

This is a talent acquisition business, not an Im the smartest man in the room business.

Recruiting is 24/7/365 for eternity. You only stop when you’re not employed as a coach.

    There is no recruiting season.

Kirby is going for his second NC, Mullen is unemployed.

The sad part is Mullen saw first hand how Urban recruited and it was almost the same philosophy as Kirby. He stacked elite talent on top of elite talent. And he also got a sobering gut check when it was made known that Mullen was the one reason Tebow almost chose Bama. A smart person would have taken their humble pie and learned from the experience. Mullen reverted to being the smartest man in the room and addressing his talent deficiencies in the portal. His house of cards came crashing down.

Fully conscious neglect and conscious decision to ignore what you knew to be correct. That is why the boosters and Gator Nation as a whole were ready to take up pitchforks and torches. The man had to be fired. No other way to put it.

No one can tell me that signing a highly evaluated 4 star that we wanted in a position of need is worse than signing some 5 star. Emory Jones, Lingard, and Cox prove that point.

This is a really solid class, and people that can't see that are just looking to complain.

This pisses me off the most. State of GA had enough quality recruits that they dont need to poach FL players. And until CBN keeps FL players IN FLorida, standings might not change.

There is more to this than just a list of players.

The top 20 FL players list is loaded with IMG and American Heritage players. Those are boarding schools full of kids from across the country. They are all listed as being from Bradenton but we all know IMG isn’t just playing players from a 5-mile radius around their campus. Due to them being minors, hometown is not revealed. Nor are they required to.

These “Florida” kids are not from FL and did not grow up rooting for UF. They are often encouraged to go to IMG by college coaches during their sophomore and junior years of HS. I mean seriously, IMG has 3 4-star and 2 5-star DEs on its roster. Kids in their 3- deep are getting 4-star rankings. When was the last time an actual FL HS did that? Even the 8A schools in inner city Miami pulling talent out of the pork and beans projects can’t come up with those numbers.

So when we see OSU landing the top 2 FL WRs from IMG and Heritage, Bama landing IMG kids, and Miami having two top DEs from IMG, those aren’t truly FL kids. But it’s at the point where anyone from IMG and Heritage is at the top of the rankings. Except of course the one we got.

Georgia did do a good job in FL this year. Only one IMG kid. We have to catch up to that.

Making the rounds on YouTube ...

Note: this is just how they registered to me

Gator Dave sounds like he thinks the class is a mixed bag and seemed a little dour.

Will Miles seems to suggest the class won’t get it done. Either points to a miss or a deliberate slow rebuild. Did say two five stars in the 2024 class may bode better, albeit a year late.

Miles is an analytics guy. He is a firm believer that a coach has to have a Top 5 bump class in order to win a Conference championship by his third year. He says that if said coach doesn't win that championship by year 3, he will never win one at that school.

Keep in mind that the examples that prove this come before NIL and the portal.

I think a slow rebuild is the hand that Billy has been dealt. Its not like he has a choice here. I agree that this class won't get it done either, but its a huge improvement over the past and a building block for the future. We're not winning a conference title 3 years from now anyway.

If Miles were are true analytics guy he himself would re-rank the players according to how talented HE thinks these players are. Going by other people's rankings is a sloppy excuse for his profession.

I will totally agree on img, but unless things have changed Heritage is similar to St Thomas in FtL. They get kids from all over SFla but they r still Florida kids.
