These are the positions that I think we still are short on numbers: RB LB (even with Mitchell) OT (even if Jones commits) QB (not sure if Rashada got a promise that we wouldn't bring in another transfer?)
WR regardless if he does. Who of last years freshmen are gonna step up? Just Douglas imo. As the poster I am quoting below me says, think Van Jefferson type of WR transfer. That Oregon kid, Jimmy horn Jr, something like that. man every team would take a Greenard type of impact transfer lol. Even UGA! But yes, we do need to get atleast one productive transfer on the DL, even after taking banks
Including all that signed, we have 78 on the roster....so room for 7. Say we take 2 more from HS, that leave 5 for transfers. I'd take: 1 QB (if elite) 1-2 WR 1 LB 1 TE (if plug and play) 1 DT (maybe, because I think McClellan will be a stud. Between him, Watson, and Banks...we might be ok at DT.) * We have a strong top 5 on the OL coming back. We haven't seen their backups in action, so hard to gauge what we need there. I think we'll get another small wave of transfers, so we might have room for more.....But as of now, there is room for 7 in all.
I hope Caleb works out, but seemed like he dropped 2-3 catchable balls every game he played. Looks good on routes, gets open but catch that ball before making another move please!
DT, LB, WR, OL, TE If we can 3 of those inside the top 100 and the other 2 at least serviceable …along with 2 more before NSD, that’s a 65% roster flip in 14 months. A really good start.
Good post CBN took Mertz bc there isnt an elite qb 1 LB transfer so far Lots in portal with .87 or lower rating as of today Is there a DC in the portal?
You forgot a game-ready DT or 2. If the weights on the DL class we just signed are accurate, they don't appear to be physically ready for that position in 2023. Perhaps 1 or more will contribute at DE. Also an OL wouldn't hurt unless we have some RFr that will be ready in 2023. The LV Bowl painfully demonstrated our need in that area.
I'm don't blame you a bit, but I'm guessing you didn't watch the LV Bowl. Our OL without the NFL draftees not on the field was hot garbage.
To be fair to the freshman DTs coming in typically can’t expect them to play their first year due to the weight you mentioned. Happened this past year with MCclellen, Dexter years before that. I think Norman’s gonna be damn good but I’d like to see him bulk and start in year 2
Seemed solid till the last 2 games where his hands were a train wreck. But he was getting open and shows athleticism.....just needs about a thousand rockets from the Juggs machine
A lot went into that, but yes, I saw it. We return 5 of the top 7 on the OL. In theory, all 5 should be one year better...Those 5 proved to be very reliable, including a freshman All America in Barber. Of course, the 2 that we lost are huge, but I don't see us being a bad OL next season. If we can gran an elite OL, heck, we take it....but I think other positions are more critical. Just my opinion.
