Don’t be naive, its also about pocket awareness and knowing when to get out of trouble or throw it away. Holding the ball too long causes sacks. Trask was a quick thinker and rarely got sacked. Not only on the line. SMH

In all seriousness though, for a guy like Napier who seemed to have a plan overhauling the roster anyways, in the world of the transfer portal, quality at the QB position is probably the first place to start, regardless of who is on the roster.

Napier isn't Dan Mullen, he's not molding the scheme based on the guys we have. He has what he wants to do, and he wants to overhaul the roster as quickly as possible so everything fits the way he wants it to.

I hope every QB is successful here. But this kid has looked lost against Big10 speed. SEC is a step up and success will be difficult for him. You can’t hold the ball and have good results in this league.

Boy do we pull some super stud QB’s from the portal. Luke Del Rio, Austin Appleby, Malik Zaiere, Jack Miller.

Big Ten teams better hide your backup QBs, cause we coming after them leftovers!

The Las Vegas bowl was a preview of what’s in store for 2023. Call him dumb all you want, but If you’re expecting 6 or more wins next year with 2 proven big ten busts and a true freshman fighting for the starting job at QB … I don’t know what to tell you.

Mertz looks faster on film than Miller is. So there’s that.

One thing about Mertz to consider, he started for three years and had three different coordinators. Now of course he will have a 4th... but it is something to consider when talking about his performance.

Our basic offense is so vanilla he may flourish here due to simplicity.

I picked 8 wins next year. But won’t be shocked if we repeat 6.

indeed but it’s easy to get the ball out quick when you have WR’s that can get separation. I can’t name the last WR from Wisconsin that was worth a salt lol

For those wondering, our speedster AR was sacked 13 times last season. That’s .833 fewer sacks per game than the statue Mertz.

Love the optimism, but I have to see it to believe it. Wisky is known for good RBs so it seems he also misses check down options.

You’re making our point. When he wouldn’t run in games, he was holding the ball too long. I never thought we had a quick thinking QB these last few years.

Mertz sacked 1.9 times a game.
