I don’t have time to follow the various ranking services, I just go by Rivals.

Teams can sign a bunch of 3 star players and end up ranked high, but they end up with a bunch of 3 star players.

We signed 18 4 star players, which is great. I think we can compete for the SEC East if we get that many every year.

For whatever reason, we seem to have trouble getting the 5 star players. Hopefully, that will change over time.

While only one measure, it is a great start. Anyone disappointed is just looking to be disappointed.

This class is about five signees short of a top six or seven class. Almost every team ahead of UF has 24 to 26 commits. Our average player ranking is higher than it's been in years. We'll just see who's going to wait until February to sign. I'm guessing the commits to be will be three star prospects at positions of great need.

It's an impressive class. I'm thrilled that we had no last minute defections either, which sadly has been par for the course in the past.

I read on one of those other free sites that we indeed DO have the 3rd highest rank team in Rivals, as far as player grades go, so there is some corroboration to this method of ranking.

Very nice class of players, vast majority 4*, all appear to be good guys too, Billy types.

    14/20 from Florida. :emoji_thumbsup:

None from the top 20 in the state though. That needs to change next time. :emoji_fingers_crossed:

Poster was referring to average rating of recruits, per rivals.

A lot of schools ranked higher due to number signed. But UF was over 92 average per recruit. Decent.

How many of those players are truly from FL?

15 years ago there was no IMG and American Heritage did not bring in out of state players. Bolles and STA were the only schools that “recruitef” players and Bolles fell off the side of the boat when it comes to football.

These days IMG is filled with non-FL kids sometimes placed there by OSU, Bama, etc. and then they claim they got the top FL talent. I mean when was the last time you saw a HS team with four 4-star DEs? Only two can play at a time, so how did the other two achieve 4-star status?

I looked at the 247 rankings and our individual player rankings have us at 4th or 5th. Most of the teams ahead of us have at least five more signees than we do. I'm good with what we have, because 90% of our signees are 4 stars.

Classes like this one, with a large number of 4 start guys, is a requirement for UF to build toward a consistent winner.

It noticably upgrades the talent which furthers the main goal. That is the only significant measure at this point. Tacking on another 5 star guy would not have changed the program's trajectory or practical value of this class. Time to coach up this talent.

and ive watched film on some of those IMG guys and A LOT of them are vastly overrated. The elite ones stand out, but they have a lot of kids you watch film on and will come away unimpressed compared to where they are ranked at.
