The Sky is NOT Falling - Thoughts on Recent Recruiting News and the Future... [LONG READ]

We aren’t who we were and we’re prolly not who we thought we were gonna be. Think about it in these terms- I hate to sound depressing but this is truth. We won zero titles until the 90s. Then had a spurt with Urban. But all time? We are middle of the pack SEC. We’ve had more coaches not work out than have worked out. If you look at it from a math perspective- probability says- CBN is not the guy and furthermore our regression to the mean is probably about right.
I HATE to not be hopeful. But the alternative is hope with constant dissatisfaction and disappointment or lying to myself. We’ve got half the fans doing PR and saying the other half of the fans are horrible- this is no way to live.
I grew up in the 80s and I remember the 9-1-1 season and it felt Soooo good. We got spoiled and now this is regression. UAA and Uf admin put so much emphasis on all sports and academics, they didn’t want to get into an arms race for facilities and were 10 years behind and now they will be way behind on NIL. They’ve made their bed and this is what we are. We are an 8 win type program now and every 5 years or so we will change coaches and hope this is the return to SOS. There is a reason our assistant AD went to Georgia and that they are winning now. The writing was on the wall. This is Florida football. I’m gonna stop being disappointed and just be real.

 

Looking at the schedule, I will predict 5 wins. 6 if we get lucky.

Next years win total will be predicated on further development of our existing class, contributions from new enrollees, and, from the portal. Currently, we are in the dark in what the portal holds for us at this writing/posting. More to be revealed.

The pissing and moaning is a bit much. I'm gonna support the effort and down the line if it completely blows, I'll be screaming the loudest. The way I see it, we have some great kids, a fabulous class and I hope they ALL have tremendous upside. I choose Orange and Blue glasses on this. Some see poo, some see goo, I see orange and blue!!

I'm super-excited to see what the portal can offer up...

Like I said before, at least our school colors are cool/unique, and we are in a great location.

But other than that, not much to get excited for.

If this comes to be, Billy seats on the hottest coaching seat entering 2024. And he will need to fend off a hoarde of angry BullGators.

We will get routed by UT, Uga, and fsu next year. And that sucks.

Are you folks following the signings? Miami has signed 3-- five star recruits! Three!.... The Gators 0 (zero). Napier forte is recruiting? He is not doing that great in his second go round. As much as it galls me, the Canes will eclipse Gators talent level and apparently FSU already has.

UT was senior laden this year and also lost Hendon Hooker. I would imagine they will be middle of the road next year while reloading.

 

The same people predicting 8 wins are the same people who predict 8 wins this year. But if you try to be realistic you get called all kinds of names.

 

I haven’t seen the schedule. when do we play Miami next year?
