    Did he actually play this year? More generally can a player transfer, sit out a year and keep his free one time transfer to use later or is it an automatic thing?

    I'm sure a player/team probably wouldn't intentionally go into a season thinking that, but maybe if a player were injured (could have applied to Miller had he not had to play the bowl game)
