Typing as I listen… I thought we played pretty well but for making shots. We Defended well enough to win. Shooting that poorly from 3 is just not gonna get it done. The did a good job of bothering us on our ball screen.. but I think we got good looks and should have been able to shoot better than 9%. Colin had a great game… one of his best of the year. It was great to see. We have been a good half court defensive team the past few weeks and we thought if we kept them out of transition we could guard em. We held them to under 40% from the field. If you would have told me that, id figure we were in good shape. A lot of positive things to take. But we have to push thru and get one of these games and once we do that… I think we will be in good shape.
Teams seem to play better D versus our offense than vice versa. Just make it hard on these Gators and they will fold. Probably not the year Golden envisioned at this point, and we better hope he can recruit.
perhaps. we run a lot of two and three man actions …. And I haven’t seen CJ used in many. Perhaps there is good reason, but I can’t help but think he would be great at the top of a hi/low set with CC.
He’ll probably have to hit the portal hard again, most of the ‘23 class is locked up and we got zero top 150 and only 1 player signed at all. Hopefully we aren’t totally done, but most likely it isn’t going to be a transformative class (almost impossible based on what’s unsigned). Can’t blame Golden for this as generally it’s late in the process and with NIL corruption most of these were signed/sealed/delivered. The ‘24 class is the one where he’ll have a “normal” amount of time to scout and recruit. So if by ‘24 we are still looking for scraps and the portal, then you have to wonder…
I like the kid who has already committed. Find a physical, mobile big man in the transfer portal and add one more quality transfer portal player and let’s go. I would take my boy, Glover, back in a heartbeat. He has been out of action for a while now with an injury which makes me wonder if he is out for the season. If so, he could get a medical redshirt and have 2 years of eligibility remaining. He could be the missing link.
I saw several times as the ball went inside, most of our players became spectators. We never screen a man without the ball to get him open. I agree to much standing in our offense. Designing offenses is the fun part of coaching basketball. We need something different than what we are doing???
