That's why I will be watching him play. It's not going to be easy and I would guess that he better land on a team the dummy down the offense for him. But we'll see how he does. He a Gator so I will be rooting for him.

Why would they need to dummy the offense down? He needs a good OC with a legit scheme like any young QB

The problem with our passing game this year was that it was too rudimentary. It was closer to high school level than NFL level

Why don't we both just let it play out. I will be rooting for him to do well, but I am not expecting instant success.

Question is, was it that way due to limitations of the QB....or limitations of the head coach??

I think after watching the bowl game it was obvious that this team was lot worse than it appeared without the threats that AR posed to defenses and his abilities to avoid, or escape, d-linemen.

I like AR and appreciate his efforts.

Regrettably this thread is a bit delusional IMO.

UF was bad so was the QB play.

As far as going 75%, if Napier is any kind of coach he sits any QBs ass on the bench for going 3/4 speed.

First pick in the draft? Color me exceedingly skeptical.

I wish him well, I do but the fan base never could seem to separate fiction from reality.

Having a couple of good quarters against inferior teams Mullens last year was so overblown its mind boggling.

This year, outside of UT, a losing effort where CBN went on 4th down like 8 times, AR was average at best. His Utah game was more about legs than arm.

Shane Matthew's was right, to be a great QB outside of the wishbone, one must complete passes.

I think the fan base should consider wishing AR the very best and not worry about that which never came to be.

Year 2 is about to start, UF is not going to replace Napier barring catastrophic off field weirdness.

Let's get behind Billy and see what year 2 brings.

Nothing he did on the field tells me he should be a first round choice. I think he'll continue his way. He is a raw talent and has none of the stick to instincts needed to succeed. I hope I'm wrong!

Seems to me an honest first round OL player opting out was the problem more so than AR not playing. Would have been nice to have him but if you don't have the horses up front you don't have much of a chance. They played hard but need time to gel.

Successful NFL quarterbacks are required to locate the correct receiver and be accurate and on time with the ball. Have not seen that out of AR consistently.

Don’t forget about Mitch Trubisky. “Who?” You say. Mitch Trubisky, the guy from NC who played 1 year and the Bears traded up one spot to get him 2nd(?) Overall when he wasn’t even on anyones draft board.

Fields is playing on a 4-year $18M contract. There are kickers who make more than that.

Rookie salaries are such that teams can take more chances and it not be as costly as it used to be. The Jets drafted Sam Darnold #3 overall in 2018. They cut bait with him after 3 years and only had to carry $5M in dead cap. And because QB's always have potential to someone, they were still able to trade him for a 2nd and 4th round pick, despite him being pretty lousy. You can't trade players at other positions who are as lousy as Darnold for anything. The cost of drafting Darnold was so minimal the Jets were able to use another top 5 pick on Zach Wilson. He's been pretty lousy so far, too, but because he costs so little they still have a pretty good team.

    Or Vince Young.
I have been very impressed with how Jalen Hurts has progressed. Tua also.

AR should be the #1 pick...........in the 6th round.

Unfortunately, though I pulled for him to succeed, I see the pick at the goal line vs usf, the wide open missed swing pass to M Johnson vs fsu, the pick 6 vs UK and on and on.
