We are starting to see the intellectual walls and rationalization to the idiocy of whatever Desantis says, just like what we saw for years with the idiocy of what Trump says. To your point people who don’t support Desantis are likely genocidal baby exterminators anyway so whatever they say is not worth listening to.
I have been vocally pro vaccine, but the truth is, we have no idea if there is truth in there or not. Big pharma misleading for profits seems impossible to you? Big pharma underreporting bad news seems impossible to you? My guess is both are true. The vax was an important tool for helping millions, while at the same time we have been mislead in other areas. Cant both be true?
I take it the new standard for a government investigation is "Is this conspiracy I'm alleging impossible"? Maybe we should impanel a grand jury to determine whether JFK Jr., Tupac, and Elvis are alive while we're at it. But I'm glad you've already concluded both of the above things are true.
Respectfully, I made no assertions about the legalities. I have no idea, but its far from a conspiracy theory to think big pharma would lie to protect profits. I was asking him if HE found the notion impossible.
Any of us could lie to protect our own interests. Does that mean the government should investigate you because it is possible you lied on your tax forms so you could protect your money? Let's be honest about what this is. DeSantis is winking at the anti-vax crazies in the Republican Party, just like he has been for quite awhile. It's a stunt that breeds distrust in vaccines designed to further his political career, just like so many of his other harmful stunts.
You were, after you weren’t. As to “we have no idea” bullshit there have been billions of doses. The efficacy and side effects were known and are known. The efficacy has evolved as variants have come along as well as some degree of widespread natural immunity . So now the standard for a grand jury is theoretical plausibility and not actual evidence? All of the issues addressed in that complaint are quantifiable and the results well know. To the extent they suppress information in controlled scientific studies they set themselves up for extreme liability, so no I don’t think they do that. . They could be true, but I have seen no evidence that the vaccines were overhyped by the pharma companies. Again we don’t call grand juries based upon wild assed hypotheticals.
It would be helpful for you to articulate the general standards for calling grand juries, and if you read it have you seen anything to indicate it is a reasonable action. I’m not a lawyer so I can only guess.
This is from the statute: Whenever the Governor, for good and sufficient reason, deems it to be in the public interest to impanel a statewide grand jury, she or he may petition in writing to the Supreme Court for an order impaneling a statewide grand jury. The petition shall state the general crimes or wrongs to be inquired into and shall state that said crimes or wrongs are of a multicircuit nature. The Supreme Court may order the impaneling of a statewide grand jury, in accordance with the petition, for a term of 12 calendar months. Upon petition by a majority of the statewide grand jury or by the legal adviser to the statewide grand jury, the Supreme Court, by order, may extend the term of the statewide grand jury for a period of up to 6 months.
and these are realities these days of team politics. DT would have been convicted in both impeachments if facts mattered and DeS would be convicted wrt the immigrant flights if tried. This suit against DeS will be interesting to follow. Nonresponsive bid awarded to political donor to conduct flights not originating in Florida. It will take a special type of judge to twist a temp stop in Florida to having originated in Florida New lawsuit accuses DeSantis of flouting state law by flying migrants - POLITICO
you continually equate a fetus to a live human being, until you don't. which one is it? Should a fetus have the same rights as a living human or not? how does the origination of the fetus change their right?
Special type of judge? Aileen Cannon comes to mind. She may not be the most competent member of the federal judiciary but she has demonstrated her skill at creative jurisprudence.
Does the state Supreme Court usually just do whatever the governor wants if they are in the same party?
They could choose not to do so. But DeSantis appointed 4 of the 7, so I don't have any real faith they won't do what he wants.
I see Tilly is gonna die on the Ron Desantis hill. He seemed like a pretty good candidate a year and a half ago. Since then it’s been a steady stream of placating the deplorables.
Nah, I don't care enough to die on anyone's hill. I just get a kick at how much of a high horse the leftist party takes around here. The passion is much more from the anti DeSantis group than from me. My life will change very little regardless of who is POTUS. And note that a certain poster TAGGED me into this thread looking for a fight. But I'll show myself out and let them have their little echo chamber to themselves.
Dr. Fauci for one. https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...d-be-more-covid-vaccine-mandates-local-level/ Bill de Blasio as of August 2021 San Francisco as of August 2021 New Orleans (negative test or vaccine) as of August 2021. Probably many more. What do I have to do ALL of your homework for you? Yes, and the flu is serious for all of the people who die from the flu. We don't have broad flu shot mandates and we don't shut down the country because the flu is deadly to some people. The entire world of politics is based on risk/reward assessments. Once people reach a certain level of safety, or opportunity for a certain level of safety based on their actions alone, government should generally err on the side of "let people make their own decisions." And generally speaking, people were sufficiently safe when they were vaccinated from COVID. And generally speaking, COVID was less deadly to children than the flu. THAT'S what the science said. Again, it doesn't logically follow that most people hospitalized from COVID were unvaccinated but the vaccinated required everyone else to be vaccinated as well to be protected from COVID. Vaccine mandates at that point are both draconian and overkill. Calls for policy should be recognized, as well, I_boy. Or should I have these people a pat on the back because their policy desires were unsuccessful or unrealized? That's stupid. As for as who "these people" are: 1. California: There is a pending statewide student COVID-19 vaccine mandate that has not yet been implemented. 2. Washington D.C.: There is a student COVID-19 vaccine mandate, but enforcement of this mandate is delayed until the 2023-2024 school year. 3. Illinois: On August 26, 2021, Gov. JB Pritzker issued an executive order that required all students at public and private institutions of higher education to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Those who remained unvaccinated had to be tested for COVID-19 weekly, at a minimum, or would be excluded from the school premises. On July 13, 2022, Gov. Pritzker announced the ending of the vaccinate or test requirement for students at institutions of higher education. 4. New York: December 31, 2021, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that, for the Spring 2022 semester, the COVID-19 vaccine booster would be required for in-person students at the State College of New York and City College of New York campuses. States Address School Vaccine Mandates and Mask Mandates - The National Academy for State Health Policy Then, there's Dr. Fauci AGAIN “I believe that mandating vaccines for children to appear in school is a good idea,” Fauci told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union.” Fauci: School Covid-19 vaccine mandates are a 'good idea' | CNN Politics Not even close to everyone, as I just showed you. I'm saying at best, they didn't know how ineffective the vaccines were at preventing transmission. At worst, they lied about it. Probably somewhere in the middle. They thought they were pretty effective so they wanted to sell how effective they were to get as many people vaccinated as possible. Okay. And? Nothing there is mutually exclusive from my post, nor does it rebut any arguments I have made. I've already shared it with you twice, you are really being lazy. But here goes nothing: "Florida law prohibits fraudulent practices, including the dissemination of false or misleading advertisements of a drug and the use of any representation or suggestion in any advertisement relating to a drug that an application of a drug is effective when it is not. § 499.0051(11), Fla. Stat." From the Petition: "The widespread belief that the COVID-19 vaccines prevented the disease from spreading became so pervasive that the President of the United States himself believed it to be true. He sought to impose a variety of vaccine mandates on the American people, including healthcare workers and members of the military, which were premised on the notion that "unvaccinated people spread the virus" and "the best way to slow the spread of COVID-19 and to prevent infection by the Delta variant or other variants is to be vaccinated." He even stated that "[y]ou're not going to get Covid if you have these vaccinations."" "For example, on November 30, 2020, the Chief Executive Officer of Moderna told the public that a study "confirms the ability of our vaccine to prevent COVID-19 disease with 94.1 % efficacy."" "Pfizer similarly stated that its vaccine was "highly effective with 91.3% vaccine efficacy observed against COVID-19 ... through up to six months after the second dose." Pfizer's CEO, Albert Bourla, stated that its "COVID-19 vaccine was 100% effective" in preventing cases in South Africa." ""In January 2021, Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel stated, "[t]he antibody decay generated by the vaccine in humans goes down very slowly" and "[w]e believe there will be protection potentially for a couple of years." Yet not even a year later, Bancel announced that clinical studies indicating an increased risk of breakthrough infections "illustrates the impact of waning immunity and supports the need for a booster to maintain high levels of protection."" "On December 29, 2020, the World Health Organization's chief scientist, Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, stated that there was a lack of evidence "to be confident that it's going to prevent people from actually getting the infection and therefore being able to pass it on."" "Nearly a year later, World Health Organization officials admitted that the vaccines did "not fully prevent transmission." Indeed, various studies have seriously undermined the narrative that vaccination prevents the transmission of COVID-19, especially the delta and omicron variants. This calls into question the accuracy of pharmaceutical manufacturers' representations that their vaccines would stop transmission..." Need more than that? Read the damned petition. I'm done doing your homework for you.
Why they did it or whether they believed it is up for debate. But there is no question that outright false information by the medical and pharmaceutical establishment was pushed out to the masses in this large scale campaign to get as many people as possible to take the vaccine.
