I heard some noise on Twitter but no one of relevance. I think he stays with us. He was tweeting pro gator stuff on the fsu visit.
As of today it is vital that UF holds onto the class. Right now Miami is throwing money every which way to purchase close to a number one class. What they’re doing isn’t sustainable. Weather their storm and watch them not improve. Losing Fletcher sucks because I thought we would land him. Rashada is either a Gator at heart or he noticed something isn’t right in Miami.
It is sustainable at Miami. Ruiz is a billionaire and has an income stream that guarantees that he will earn additional billions via his business. He can provide Miami with $25 million per year just in interest on his money. Never had to touch principal. He can do this every year. That is what people don’t understand.
he can and he will do it every year and seems he has grudge against UF he will mess with all are recruits going forward
It seems Mullen could always get us down to the last 4 schools for recruits and CBN seems to get us down to the last 2....not sure it is any improvement when we still seem to not have them Gainesville bound when they sign... sigh.
the Fletcher one stings because we got him on campus for the USCe game and he decommits a day or two afterwards, takes a UF OV, and not even had made it home from his Miami OV and he commits. Idk whats up with our NIL war chest but man ole man
Nape had made it clear from the beginning they aren’t going to get in bidding wars. Miami has made it clear they are willing to over pay to stack talent. It’s definitely frustrating. But we’re just going to have to wait and see how Napiers strategy plays out.
And fletcher actually visited Miami the week prior to his UF visit. So who knows. Could’ve all been a massive troll job. Or him and okunlola could’ve just been using us as leverage for more cash
This is happening at most high level schools now. Just more personal to UF as they are both same state schools. For life of me I don't understand how majority of schools can and do allow this but UF utilizes a different approach. Not a level playing field. Why is our UAA so above board? Makes no sense.
He is only As valuable as his company is worth and as we have seen many times in this day and age companies can go from worth Billions to nothing overnight especially if he ends up in a Criminal scandal similar to like nevin shapiro did
And to be honest after what A&M showed us this year after spending 30 million plus on a historic number one class last year I'm not sure buying players is still the best way to go. I'd like to think so but jimbo who for all intent of purposes is an OK coach did s*** this year with all the talent you could buy
they underachieved but a few things 1. that talented class they brought in, we gotta remember that they were TRUE freshmen. Expecting them to come in and be game one difference makers is a tall order. As the season went on though, their best players emerging were those true freshmen 2. they played the wrong QB(s). Weigman showed against LSU that he has the goods to be DAMN good and I expect em to show it next year 3. they have a great class now for 2023, just small on numbers. They have more top 100 kids than we do
But they are also losing a lot of that freshman class already....and I wonder if Miami doesnt experience the same
Ruiz is a billionaire? He is CEO of MSP Recovery (MSPR), a stock that was $10/share in June 2022 and is now $1.26/share. MSP Recovery, Inc. (MSPR) Stock Price Today, Quote & News | Seeking Alpha. From their quarterly report: "Revenue: Total revenue for the third quarter of 2022 was $8.3 million, up 234% from the third quarter of 2021. Operating loss: Operating loss for the third quarter of 2022 was $78.9 million, compared with $3.1 million for the third quarter of 2021." His other company appears to be Life Wallet, with revenue of less than $5M. Lifewallet - 4612000 Revenue | Kona Equity John Ruiz may well be a billionaire, initially from being a personal injury attorney or the crypto craze (his SPAC MSPR was initially valued at about $33B. The market cap for MSPR is now about $4B... for revenue of $8.3M/quarter? Hmmm... don't think that knife has fallen all the way. I'm not going to take the time to look at management holdings to calculate his ownership but by almost any metric, these are not healthy businesses. Most folks don't get to be, or stay, billionaires blowing cash in stupid ways.
I'm not saying it wont-work in the Inn but the one season Sample size we have so far on A&M and the way they recruited doesn't look good they've already had transfers out from that same freshman class they had a losing record this year worse than one in years, An A&M was decent Last year when they added that additional talent Miami looks downright terrible This year, I'm not sure how long they have to sustain those type classes to bring them back to relevance.
But on the flip side, if this model DOES work for Miami/A&M, it can become sustainable because MORE boosters could be willing to sign up and help with NIL. THAT'S a potential flip side to things as well. We'll see because time will definitely tell
