Complete mess. Rebuilding needs to start by gutting the AD’s office. Hopefully the new prez actually wants to succeed in the most high profile college sport. I’m sick of us winning “Directors cups” when our football team loses half their games and gets clobbered by the likes of Oregon State.
What do you really mean by "not playing the NIL game?". Outside of a bunch of innuendoes, there is no clarity on what someone else is offering that we are not. I am afraid this fanbase perception will feed into the reality and impact recruiting down the line. So, if you do not have an article or quotation to cite on this matter, I would suggest not stating opinions as fact.
Ruiz just paid off another 5* to get him to scUM. We're being selective and getting outbid. Just means its going to take longer as we'll lose quite a few 5* guys to programs willing to do it. Little ole me posting my opinion has no impact on our recruiting. I wish it did, but it does not. All you have to do is peruse twitter, hit a few recruiting sites to know what is going on. Whether you choose to believe it or not, is up to you.
True this. Freshmen can contribute at RB and Receiver, and sometimes Safety if their instincts are good. Lineman on both sides are gassed after 3 quarters as 19 year old going against SEC competition.
Not the poster you quoted, but a family friend works in UF admin in an academic role. Their perception is that UF lags the UGAs, Bamas, tOSUs, Miamis, ATMs, etc in terms of depth of boosters willing to play the legal cheating game known as NIL. This same person also said the UAA was unwilling to provide the resources towards football in terms of analysts, recruiting budgets, etc pre-Napier. That obviously got fixed.
That doesn’t surprise me. Every profession has people with power who stand in the way of revolutionary change. Then the same people react with shock and horror as their organization falls behind its competition. A little like the concept of racial integration at Bama in the early 1970s.
Ahhh . . . the old "I was just joking" retort. I admit with your history of support and positivity any joke, if there was one, went right past me.
The irony (not humor; none of this is funny) is right there in my last line. Do you really think I suggest abandoning the concept of winning to do whatever Miami is doing? I would compare my words to the below exchange. Do you think Hudson was actually suggesting they put Newt in charge, or do you think he was just despairing in their predicament?
Nick Saban wouldn't have won the East with this team. Kelly, with even more talent, just gave up 50 to Georgia a few weeks ago...and it could have been a lot more. As far as Riley goes, you think the Florida defense is bad now. No idea about Dykes, but this is just a silly comment.
Maybe watch some other games where our entire team played and fought their asses off in losses. They aren’t quitters.
Yes, of course, you’re right. I’m not sure what I was thinking. Never mind that we have Beaver fans mocking us in their cups today. The future is so bright we should be wearing welder’s goggles. I couldn’t be more enthusiastic for the way ahead if I was a Russian soldier in Bakhmut. Alright, let’s do this! Kyiv by spring, brothers!
After further review…….. @gatorpa ….. I should explain the harshness in my posts to you. For openers, I’ve clashed with a lot of trolls on our boards. They’re pretty easy to identify spreading constant negativity and stirring up discontent among our fans to further the chaos. It works for them. Clearly you’re not a troll. I can tell the difference…… You’re not a troll, but your constant negativity toward our coaching staff STILL less than one year into Napier’s tenure at UF is every bit as offensive as the worst of the trolls on here. Your speculations that “IF this” and “IF that” happens then our new coach will be on the hot seat, or CBN is just mediocre because — he hasn’t recruited as well as Kirby (who’s been in place now for several years) or Kelly (who walked in to a stocked roster) or Lincoln Riley )who’s got years in the system as a P5 HBC and STILL has yet to win an NC) — this kind of shit is flatly destructive to our struggling program. You never give our new man the benefit of the doubt. You conceive of scenarios that paint the worst possible picture of our Coach, and then state them as fact and then provide for us the actions UF should take because of something that hasn’t even happened. And you do this over and over and over again, without even stopping to take a deep breath and consider the counterpoints offered by those of us who sincerely want things to work out this time because we have already put ourselves in a deep hole by changing coaches every 2.7 years. This needs to work for us! You seem to be doing all you can to derail Napier’s effort to resurrect our program. You’re not a troll, but you’re spreading misery nonstop, with zero attempt to balance your input to this board. Because of this nonstop barrage of negativity with zero open mind to entertain opposing arguments, I find your posts offensive. So I will propose this: back the hell off just a bit in your attacks on our head coach, and I’ll stop being so nasty in return. Are you willing to try that? Go Gators
Agreed...both the Gator Athletic Admin and the coach himself has clearly signaled that there will be no pay for play and when you sign you will be doing so on faith that the NIL deals will appear. Other universities are not following this model. Will it be beneficial in the long term? Perhaps it will allow us to field a team with a higher set of values which will translate to wins on the field, but we will see. Certain schools haven't really cared about the character of their athletes as long as they produce wins (cough, cough, UM).
