While football will take center stage today, with NFL and college bowl games, there are a handful of big time men's college hoops contests. #14 IU (+5) @ #8 KU #4 Bama (-1.5) @ #15 Gonzaga #5 Houston (-2.5) @ #2 VA (look at the O/U of 115.5 ) NC (-2.5) @ #23 OSU #16 UCLA (-1.5) @ #13 UK #6 TN (+3.5) @ #9 AZ I don't intend for this to be about handicapping, but it is interesting to see Gonzaga, VA, OSU, and UK to be getting pts at home. I look fwd to watching some of these contests, alongside today's football games. Enjoy the games, 'Netters!
Houston/Virginia was pretty good basketball if you like half court with good D, which is my favorite type of game, and a solid road win for Houston. The final score should have been lower except for the fact that Virginia created a clock killing Houston parade to the line and Houston tried not to foul avoiding potential three point plays giving Virginia some easy looks. Trading two at the line for two from the field was all Houston needed. One thing that hurt Virginia late in the game was that they had a foul to give before sending Houston to the line for a one-and-one. That eats up some clock just to get to the point of fouling for the one-and-one. Sometimes not getting called for fouls earlier hurts. Virginia at that time was already in the double bonus so Wahoo fans should have no excuse for saying that the refs robbed them. Total foul shots is not the metric.
Kansas crushed IU . . . not surprised. Sidenote that South Car lost to ECU today. Gonzaga beat Bama 100 - 90 and given that they beat UK at home also, I'm not surprised. I may have won a $line bet on that. The over in the Hou/VA came to fruition. NC and OSU are in overtime. 85-82 NC at the line w 1:19 left.
UCLA crushed UK. Calipari continues to slowly kill my fandom. Just hard to watch…… we have played 3 decent teams and lost them all…. Woo hoo
