I’m afraid we’re about to whiff on the big portal names and load up on cast-offs. The portal is not gonna be our saving grace this year.

 

Our Army turned out to be the Russian Army. A whole bunch of lower division staff from Louisiana not ready to compete with the best in P5 and the SEC. Welcome to big boy football. You will have work harder, faster, longer and more effectively. Step up your game because your current effort and performance is not acceptable and needs immediate improvement

 

I mean i'm willing to see how ESD turns out before I share any thoughts on the "army" but I would, and this is from an OUTSIDE perspective because we aren't in the offices with them, have loved to see a staff full of guys that are relentless on the trail for HS kids and portal kids.

To be fair as well, the NIL buy in with how all that works is important as well. You can be as aggressive and creative in recruiting but if you aren't trying to play the NIL game like these other schools are playing, it's going to be TOUGH to become an elite winning squad unless you become a consistent top 10 team.

 

All this doom and gloom! Billy will bring in some good talent. Most great talent is probably waiting for the bigger bowl's to be over. Give the guy a chance!

Yep, just getting ready to post that. We didn’t close so well and once again getting beat in the trenches. Norman May not come our way and even if he does we needed 3 DT’s at least.
Now about getting 3 DT’s out of portal.

 

having said that, we have missed on about 10 guys and I agree with you, it's pretty bad. we had momentum with a couple really high QBs, but it went no where.

I think our biggest problem is the timing of the NIL and Miami. If Napier had come here in 2015, with his army, we are probably sitting with a top-5 class, instead guys like Ruiz just want to come in and buy off recruits just to hurt Florida. Cheating would have still gone on, but Ruiz is really too stupid to be a player in that.

Every time Miami gets a new coach, they get a huge bump class because everyone thinks the U is back. Just bad timing for Napier, but yeah, it doesn't look good at all. I can't see Florida competing for 2nd in the East any time soon

 

The really sad part is he decommitted from OSU because of us and now we’re letting him just walk to Miami. Embarrassing.

 

It's amazing how people are acting like Miami didn't just spend a season looking horrific. Social media momentum is ridiculous. I don't like the way our season ended and we are pretty fatigued with moral victories but we should have beaten fsu and yet Miami was blown off the field by them, Duke, middle tenn state, etc.

Ruiz is a cancer and a thorn in our side recruiting wise but if people didn't live on Twitter things would play out without all the handwringing.

 

They can finish with a top 3 class filled with like 8 kids we wanted that they beat us for and all of those kids were at positions of needs. I don't care about what they have going on in recruiting but we can't just spin it and paint them as idiots with their recruiting.

I didn't say that. The worst part of them right now is losing head to head battles but they weren't doing this until ruiz stepped in. The NIL thing will be solved one way or the other but Miami has shown nothing on the field so far to warrant this polar opposite perception of the programs.

I'm not saying we don't want the players we are losing out on but people flipped their lids when we lost avantae and Nesta and look how those played out. I'm not saying there isn't reason for concern with this NIL issue but they still have no facilities, no on campus stadium some serious complaints about position coaches and a laid a total egg on the field.
