Bama probably gave him a firm fair offer. Go to A&M kid if that suits you, Bama will have an adequate player to fill his spot on a winning team. Next.

Yep, posted it because I believe we dodged a bullet,so to speak, with his guy.

But one player that pisses me off that we let go was Elksnis. Several of the other tight ends on our team were raving about how strong and talented he is. and then he gets no playing time and now he signed to pay for the Gamecocks.

He will be the one that got away, IMHO. And I want to know why our tightend's coach let him walk.

They must like Arliss better and if they do, he better make waves next year

He was in a sling on the sidelines most of the year. I thought he sounded promising but we need roster spots and there’s no telling how the relationships were. We have to have some play ready guys come in on both lines and lb. The spots are going to be at a premium to get to 85

2 years and he's been healthy for about 5 minutes, when was he going to get "playing time"?

I understand but and we had a need at that position. And a first year guy that has his potential should be given the benefit of a doubt. Our tightend's coach is a subpar coach, I will not relent on this.

When I look at Elksnis I look at the tightend's room and extrapolate what we have and who is running the show there. And I have not been impressed with anything our tightend's coach has done. So, part of my question relates to my displeasure with how the entire room has been run, and I still give the benefit of the doubt to the player, not the position coach there.

Sadly, if I have it correct, after today transfers cannot do campus visits until January sometime. Hoping some coaches flew home last night or super early today and had some visits set up. Otherwise we potentially fall further behind transfer targets

The impact recruit we signed was out all year with injury. The likely most talented returner on paper (Elksnis) missed the year with injury. Not a whole lot he could do with the situation he inherited

Our te coach didn’t have much to work with and our qb wasn’t the sharpest in finding quick short routes. We almost had nonexistent short pass game and that can’t be all on coaches.

My question is why did we give up on Elksnis, or did Elksnis give up on us? Was it the position coach that was a running backs coach for MSU last year? Was he part of this? I just want to know why we let him walk. Injuries happen and he was said to be a beast. There was an article on TOS that had other tightends on our team raving about Elksnis and how strong and fast he was. Yes injuries make coaches question everything about a player, so I understand that angle, but it that what happened?

This. The coach was left with Zanders, who started the year at DE and Kotter who is a walk on. All other TE's were injured throughout the year.

Sorry... but here is something that I found to be interesting and not what I expected.

Peagler arrives in Gainesville after spending two seasons as Michigan State's running backs coach, helping the Spartans finish the 2021 regular season with a 10-2 record and reach their third New Year's Six Bowl. Peagler and MSU defeated Pittsburgh in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Dec. 30 with a score of 31-21.

Peagler was awarded the 2021 FootballScoop Running Backs Coach of the Year, after coaching running back Kenneth Walker III to the Doak Walker award. Walker III is the first Spartan to win the award after rushing for 1,636 yards and 18 touchdowns on 263 carries.

During his time at Michigan State, Peagler coached Kenneth Walker III who was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Prior to Michigan State, Peagler was the director of quality control for the offense in 2019 at Colorado.

Yeah, we haven't even mentioned Zipp who missed a huge chunk of the year
Certainly not ready to praise Peagler, but I also can't entirely fault him for things that were beyond his control. No coach on earth was making Zanders a pass catching threat. Would have liked to see Boardingham get healthy and see what he could do

I know, but you don't get those accolades if you don't have some type of value as a coach. If we being honest our TE room Didn't look great before gamble left but it was just s*** after gamble left as he was our top TE

Isn't the TE in this offense more of a blocker than pass catcher? I can understand why a pass catcher would transfer.

There is an answer to all this, and sure the TE room was decimated which made coaching that position even harder. But I'm not sure we needed to let the last TE position coach go for this guy.
