Coaches need more than a few years to get a program back on track. With some good portal transfers and HS recruiting Billy can turn it around quickly...but he needs a chance to do that. Mullen won with someone else's players but still never realized the worth of Kyle's game until he wasted two years sitting on the bench.
True, but we did have back to back 9-1-1 seasons in 84 and 85, and were the best team in the country in both.
Fewer games and ties back then. Had we been able to play bowl games in 1984 and 1985, we might have hit the ten win mark then. Never mind tie games to two teams with losing records...
You don’t need to flood me with the excuses, dude. I’m not a recruit. I’m just saying if I was, UF did not look like the kind of team I would be excited to play for. Some people might be turned on by joining an organization that gives every appearance of not caring if they win or lose, but I assume that’s a minority. Most top athletes want to win.
Well, whatever they’re doing, let’s try that. Because we’ve apparently abandoned ye olde proven method of demonstrating ability to coach and win.
I agree that hard work is a must but there are a lot of factors that go into winning football games. First the administration must be committed which they have not been in the recent past.
I think that you meant to say he/she/them. Aren’t those/they/them the current options these/those/its days?
Thank God this season has ended... If we don't have a dominant QB next year we'll stink it up. We'll need a 'better' defense and a dominant QB, just to improve from this year. Hopefully, Napier is gonna be all over this portal thing. With some good portal players and the kids we have lined up we'll be okay. If we whiff in the portal and get a subpar portal QB, it will take more time. Is Rashada gonna be great out of the gate? That's hoping for a lot. We need athletes, playmakers and depth. Expecting all of that in short order is probably at least a little delusional. I personally have hope. I find it hard to believe that Napier isn't aware of his challenges and shortcomings. He wants it to work, he wants to succeed. He'll need to make adjustments and even possible staff changes while compiling the necessary playmakers. Go Gators.
