THIS. RIGHT. HERE. There needs to be a house cleaning in the athletic department before any decisions on Billy’s future are made.

Recruiting will tell the story here.

Frost was expected to create a Florida to Nebraska pipeline, He failed.

In order to get us back, Napier will have to elevate the recruiting over the last
two failed coaches. Time will tell.

I thought UF played pretty well in the first game in beating a very good Pac-12 champ Utah team. Did any aspect of the team really improve from game 1 to game 13?

Perhaps, but Napier is a way better recruiter than Frost, and it’s not close.

I was surprised (like a lot of people) by how bad Frost did at NU in all facets.

Ridiculous expectation by Nebraska fans given Frosty was only in Florida for 1.5 recruiting seasons.

What’s interesting about the presser - Auburn Bryan harsin said the EXACT same stuff and I listened to auburn pod and they ate him alive in year two for saying “we compete, play hard, stuck together”- that’s great but you don’t get paid to create culture… if it doesn’t amount to wins it’s just lip service. Now, I was the guy who pointed out it took Harbaugh 5 years… norvell 4… it can happen… but those coaches made serious staff and scheme adjustments. The #1 key to this - and what undid the last 3 coaches- is willingness to adjust. From a tactical standpoint- he did not. They had a plan and did not adjust to for players- that’s not his philosophy. So CBN changing it up would go against his entire philosophy. But …. He’s a smart guy so maybe he does.
My concern is - how does he convince top level talent that this staff can win because national perception is not good now. Cbn getting eaten alive in public spaces that recruits occupy. Perception is not fact but it’s not good and can dictate a lot

Fooley was the ultimate smarter than everybody else guy. The only thing he loved more than those diamonds in the rough was being cheap

And even worse than the public perception is what is seen on field. That is huge, not the W or L but the in game play or lack there of.

I thought so too. I had some conversations with Nebraska fans in KC during a watch party and got that line from quite a few.

That fan base has long term PTSD. Sadly, we are not that far away from where they
    are psychologically.

At the time, I thought it was. Hence the word “arguably”.

The knock against Riley was he could never win a national championship at OU, saw the writing on the wall with the move to the SEC, and fled to the PAC-12 where the pressure is much less and he has a way easier conference in a much better place to live. Certainly an excellent hire for USC.

The knock against Kelly was that he’s a cringey weirdo who faked an accent and only went to LSU because they whiffed on Riley. Oh, and he’s still responsible for the death of Declan Sullivan. No thanks.

Billy was absolutely a well regarded slam dunk hire.

It is very telling but not something that can be fully judged in one year.

Our roster was filled with “uncoachable” players. Just look at the film breakdowns of how many fundamental mistakes Trey Dean makes on one play.

College football is filled with teams where lesser talented players play hard and give effort only to lose to a superior team.

South Carolina was the only game this year where I truly saw effort.

What I see players leave and go start at other SEC and D 1 schools I can’t agree they are uncoachable. It just means Our coaches didn’t want to coach them or can’t coach.

T dean his been out of position for 4 years he is the exception.

We played a ton of Freshman, but still there are tons of beat writers ridiculing us.

If being a laughing stock (in media) doesn’t light a fire under CBN, I don’t know what will. Perception matters in the coaching hires, the Portal and recruiting. Next week will tell us if it will be a very cold new year’s.

Trust the process, if it is a good one.

Napier has been around coaching for his entire life. I think he's very aware of what he is up against and what has to be done.

I'm pretty sure that he'll put the work in. Hopefully, he catches a break or two along the way.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Nebraska’s not a great pull and it’s not evident that Billy will crack the top ten in his second recruiting year.

Yeah, Is it illegal, immoral or fattening to call a pitch running play when the defense is stacking the box. The only time they had to set the edge was on jet sweeps. We definetely need a more creative play caller next year.

His pregame fire up speech to the team was more Ben Stein than Drew Brees.

Urban is out there. So I think the power at Florida would allow him back? I don’t think so.

Do I know if he wants back I don’t know.

However if he is hired he would instantaneously make Florida a power house again so don’t tell me there is no miracle head ball coach out there. Billy Napier will be fired in four years. He is just an awful game day coach. You think he can put recruit Kirby and saban? Com won now he cannot out recruit Miami!

That's why I had us losing this by a country mile. Oregon St actually felt sorry for us at the end and gave us 3 points to keep the scoring streak alive. Of course, we still actually had to make the kick.

This is why bowls need a rule. If I had been one the poor souls to spend serious money on this game, I'd be pissed with the product I saw. Oregon St came into the game with their roster intact, the same team that went 9-3. We came into the game a shell of the 6-6 team. We had no business playing them. Were better off not accepting the game or go play another 6-6 team. This was a low-tier game, but I'm waiting for the day that a high profile game is turned upside down when their star QB sits out and a freshman who has never thrown a pass takes over and gets demolished. Fans will say no more and you will just a few thousand attend these games. Once the bowls lose money, they will change their position. Enough key players sit out, no bowl game for you and I'm ok with that. Something needs to be done. I know for sure I'll never attend a bowl game ever again unless I know that the team that got them there is playing.

Miller wasn't bad, but being a game manager in this game meant mitigating the loss. Oregon St didn't even worry about him and focused on stopping the run and they did, better than any SEC defense has all season. This is what happens when you start a new QB in a bowl game who has never taken a snap - the opposing DC is going to ignore him and focus on stopping the run. Miller actually had the longest run from scrimmage. and Johnson had a 14 yard gain but ended up with zero yards on the other 10 carries. It's why Torrence not playing made me choose Oregon St to destroy us but at least it was only 30 points. His loss was apparent on running the ball and on the blocked punt. I actually was surprised no Miller amounted to just 23 offensive points. I really thought without him, it's an easy 45 points for Oregon St. The defense only gave up 353 yards and only 1 TD pass so I consider that a win. Offensive is where the impact of missing players hurt the most. Kudos to their DC for playing a brilliant defensive game.
