I’ve heard very respected commentators/talking heads from many venues express shock and disbelief about our program. They thought at least he’d have them prepared week end and out. 2 of last 3 games we were absolutely not ready.

Just finished his first season but yes, several changes must happen this offseason. If we enter 2023 with the exact same coaching staff, his seat will become hotter.

On field performance, not just wins and loses should be what is examined.
In first year he has shown me zero (on field) improvement, in any facet that they are building something. Play calling, TO usage, game management, as well as player development is truly awful. Every press conference is a version of the previous one. Next year it is not about telling me but actually showing me.

One of the huge knocks against him.

    Three reasons I can see:

    1. The players- we don’t have the right dudes who can buy into a system and go all in. We also had AR as our QB, who doesn’t possess an ounce of leadership, clearly didn’t go all in and held himself back to prevent injury, etc. When the QB doesn’t lead the team doesn’t charge. It’s that simple.

    2. He quickly discovered some of his assitants were not cut out for SEC play. He was not gonna fire them or shuffle things mid season so gotta wait until the year is over.

    3. He discovered that being HC, OC, and game manager in the SEC is too much for him to handle. Will be remedied by bringing a top notch OC this offseason.

7.4 million a year I believe. I hope your right about bringing in OC but I think he’ll unfortunately have a very hard time staying out of things. I think he will still control playcalling.

That this person clearly doesn’t have the stomach or patience for us to take the necessary steps to rebuild our way back to prominence. Which is exactly what I posted earlier.

You get a certain contingent of posters here that believe they are a better class of fan so they chastise others. Their argument is that our fans run off coaches who just need more time. We are soooo much worse than other programs and it is all the fault of our fans.

I have a question for those guys. Which of our former coaches post Meyer has found success elsewhere as a HC?

#3 I'll believe it when I see it. Don't get the feeling he'll make any changes.

I have a very close friend who’s family has been in the NFL for decades as General manager for a few Teams . Grew up with Bill Parcells, Tom Coughlin, Gruden list goes on. Napiers biggest mistake according to the guys who do this at the highest level are saying he made a big mistake not hiring an Offensive coordinator. Florida is too big of a program to try and take on that type of responsibility. But he’s a smart guy he will figure it out.

I think it was apparent from last night AR was doing a better job of leadership than we thought. This is just not a very talented team.

We keep talking about a coaching carousel, but the coaching failures aren't fabricated. The hires have been abysmal, (with the exception of Mullen whom I thought was a good hire at the time.) and are the result of poor decisions by the administration. With so many failures by the administration, why should we believe they got this one right? We're all fans here and our ire should be focused on the poor decisions by the administration, not on each other.

The other failed hires had that vibe where it felt as if the AD thought he was smarter than everyone else when he made the choice

AR’s athletic ability and play earned him the team’s respect. But he was not a leader per se. He could elevate his own play (IF he chose to) but cannot elevate the play of those around him.

AR is a very odd duck when it comes to his personality and the QB position. He had teamates at UF. Hard to say he had friends.

Foley came off this way after hiring Zook and it quickly crashed down on him.

For Muschamp everyone knew he was caught with his pants down and had no plan. So he went with the guy everyone tabbed as the next up and comer and Texas had labeled their HCIW.

For McElwain it was depressing to watch Foley make the hire. His tone pretty much implied he was not physically or mentally ready to undergo another Football HC search. He needed to quiet down the BullGators and basically said here is some low-hanging fruit from the Saban tree, tastes like offense. He is even quoted as saying “Will Muschamp was the last football coach I thought I would have to hire.” When it became obvious McElwain was a failed hire, Foley retired just before his 25th anniversary as AD at UF.

With all the missing pieces and drama about folks leaving, I don’t think you can draw any conclusion +- on AR’s leadership.
