To be honest, I don't have confidence in BN to turn the ship around. However, Michigan's coach and fsu's seems to have their team moving in the right direction after bad years so who knows. I wanted to see steady improvement as the year went on, haven't seen it. BN hired lots of support staff, lots, but what good has it done? Our DC has made TG look pretty good which is NOT a good thing. Why is it our pass plays are almost always contested while our opponents wr's are often wide open, we seldom contest a catch. I could go on but it's just not fun anymore.

Everyone keeps saying our fans aren’t any different than any other one… which is Bullsh!t. If this program never becomes relevant again it’s because this fan base doesn’t have the stomach or the patience to go through the steps necessary for it to become relevant again. Many of the things posted tonight are a complete embarrassment.

    Meh... It's his first season.

But if he doesn't grow during his time here, he won't last long. Didn't leave much for us to hang our hat on this season. Recruiting is much better, but nowhere near enough to give us a significant competitive advantage against the best teams in the SEC. He has to find a competitive advantage somewhere. Otherwise, what are we doing here?

Ohio State fans were talking about firing Ryan Day.

Let's just accept the fact that most high profile college football fanbases aren't exactly rational. The administrations should still act on reason.

I think Billy should get at least 4 full seasons, my skepticism aside.

That said… that’s not the CFB world we live in anymore. I agree, CFB is less likeable by the day, and the hire/fire cycle is a part of that.

Blame the players. If you can’t do that… blame the fans… Typical. This fan base has given MILLIONS for 12 years over 4 different coaches for nothing. And they are supposed to shut up and take it? Not criticize? When Muschamp was losing - we were told “be patient” until it was too much. When mcillwain was losing - we were literally blamed for saying things we didn’t- until he was let go. When mullen was giving up- we were told “but look, he’s made 3 straight new years bowls- only to find out- he wasn’t recruiting OR coaching and it imploded. Now we have a new dude in a rebuild and it’s gotten worse on the field and we are being promised “he’s not gonna out X’s and O/s you but he will out talent you “ and yet, he’s got less top 20 recruits in his own state than 6 other programs, he’s been beaten repeatedly by Miami for top guys- the kinda guys that can mask his lack of rhythm on offense and aggression on defense and clock management/ he’s not gettting them. So we’re being told “wait til he gets his guys here “ and if you’re critical- you’re a bad fan and impatient. That’s bs. When? After 12 years of being told “hold ok it’s comin “ don’t ya think most of the fans don’t believe it anymore? We’re being told “don’t believe what your eyes are seeing and it’s the talent not the coaching “ it’s a broken record. Now I’m not saying he doesn’t pull a Harbaugh or norvell and get it going/ what I am saying is the coaching is not good enough right now and the recruiting isn’t good enough to overcome it and saying that doesn’t make me a bad fan or impatient.
It makes me honest. Something you aren’t if you’re lying to yourself like you have been for 12 years.
ESPN literally ran the “remember when Florida was good” video package during the game!!! If that’s not the death of us- I don’t know what is. This is exactly how it felt to be a Nebraska fan for the last 25 years and I don’t want that. There are 1st year coaches with worse talent that did a better job and those are the facts.

Couldn’t agree more and as I’ve said several times before saying somebody needs three or four years is absolutely ridiculous… Several first year coaches proved they don’t need three or four years just this year.

He certainly needs to change things. But I think we also need to really consider how poor this roster was. Especially for this bowl game.

I was cautiously optimistic for someone who came from the Sun Belt, but feel this program is somehow cautious of paying up for a home run hire. We’re becoming a program known for blowing through coaches, which doesn’t quite bode well for recruits or brand. I truly hope CBN turns it around, but I lament that Mullen couldn’t recruit to save his life- of all the coaches since Urban, what could have been IMO. Plenty of time for Napier but oof, this season started high and went down bad. Off the top of my head, I can’t recall the last time we lost to Vandy TN UK UGA LSU and FSU, much less after winning a huge week 1 game. Seems the season got progressively worse and I don’t foresee a week 1 win on the road next year to start, but can also only hope he gets a few years to implement his recruits and scheme. But otherwise, I’m truly concerned we are going to run through another coach in a couple years, and repeat.

    I completely get you brother.

Just keep pulling for the Gators and give the coaching staff a little time. Nothing good can come from cutting Billy loose now. All we can do is hope he grows on the job.

But you're right, everything from top to bottom right now just isn't good enough. I don't think it does us any good to pretend like Billy has everything figured out right now and it's all going according to plan. It's okay to say it isn't. To what degree on the other hand is debatable.

I 100% agree. I’m behind the guy. There have been flashes on and off the field of what COULD be… but I don’t think it’s all one thing or the other. We get into these binary discussions - you’re either for Billy or not, it’s either the players or the coaches … all I’m saying is “it wasn’t good enough and my concern is he’s not a good enough schemer to overcome some talent issues. That’s concerning. There are coaches that do that. And my hope is- he can say - “we’ve gotta get some advantages until we amass talent.
