Im too lazy to look up the practice window but pretty sure it didnt start until after the conference championship games and then still ncaa contact time was still in effect as well as finals

this was one of the worst bowl scenarios for us to play in wrt to prep and closing out esd

I am not impressed with our special teams coaching at all.....very uninspiring. The D had their bright spots and inconsistencies. But STs was bad throughout.

    Miss SOS horribly.
    SOS
    Riley
    Leach
Even Mullen knew how to outscheme others. OSU’s coach does too and nobody on this board can tell me OSU had better take talent than us.
Billy, with this offense will not outscheme anyone. Gotta stop saying first year. Washington, USC, and many others did well in their first year.

Who you just describe is SOS... yeah I miss him on our sidelines too, because he WAS the smartest coach on the field every time he coached a game. I do NOT feel that way right now.

The team didn't practice for 2 weeks after FSU. 6-7 days of practice.

There are so many ugly variables that it is to soon to judge BN. But, he has some mistakes to learn from and I hope he does.

I REALLY LIKED the coach from Oregon State! Everything about him was impressive.

Good coaches change their schemes to fit the personnel, I don't think that how these guys roll, which is a big mistake... or just a sign of their youth and inexperience in coaching. Either way I'm getting a bad feeling right now.

Napier needs a DC that knows more about the defense than he does, but I doubt that's the case right now. He needs a OC that knows how to call the right play at the right time. He needs SOS to be his OC.

Could you imagine that? Lol. It could NOT be worse for our play-calling. SOS is still sharp enough to pull it off.

My therapist said write it down and burn it. I'm sharing...

It's a little hard to be ultra-objective after getting beat by Vandy and killed by a Pac12 team in a bowl. This is the first game this season, in which play, effort, coaching and ingenuity was completely and totally lost-in all phases of the game.

    Napier:
Out-coached by Oregon State-not even close.
    Kids were out-hustled & out-played

    Biggest questions for me:
How can you have two of the best running backs in the country and not use them better? The hole in the fence isn't straight ahead. There's this thing called a pitch out. There's a rollout. Anything. Crap, punt on first down! People crossing the border don't run head-first into the shipping containers. They go down the line looking for an opening. Just saying. Logic is your friend.

    Miller:
Respectfully, he might need to transfer out to a div lll school. After three years if you stare down your guys, delay, and then pass ... come on.

    Conclusions:

Passers need to be able to pass.
Runners need to be able to run
Catchers need to be able to catch
blockers need to be able to block
Special teams need to be able to be, well, special
coaches need to be able to coach and call plays or delegate to coaches that can

The rebuild will take a minute here. What is time really? I'm hoping that Napier, who I love, isn't like Zook, who was too stubborn to make changes.

My prayers tonight are: Lord, please tell me this is the bottom.

    It's great to-be a Florida Gator. Sometimes it's like passing a peach pito_O:eek:

    Go Gators.

After the last decade that would be great. 73% win percentage, 10-7 in bowls and 2 SEC championships. Not bad when you consider he was in the same division as Urban Meyer and SOS at usce.

And with his stops at Clemson and Bama, with a father that coached him in high school too? The son of a football coach that is out coached all the time is not good/right. He needs help and that starts with better, more experienced coaches around him. He might just need to delegate more and dictate less.

All correct and should hire OC immediately. Very clear AR covered up a very concerning offense schematically.

If he needs to delegate more then wtf are the people in rows 7-12 in this picture doing?

The staff is bigger than the team. This was August.

I think Billy’s in over his head - Sun belt success doesn’t guarantee SEC success.

This team better look different next year is all I got to say. Pathetic.

Special teams are poorly coached, and we need an OC --stat!!

I'm not down on Nape, but he has got to get some help with in game offensive scheming. He hires all these other analysts and what not, but doesn't think a top OC is important? This is head scratching. Don't the Mutts, Clemson, and the Gumps all have OC? Nape is acting a bit egotistic here.

I'll give Toney a pass for now, because our D is not talented, and has been poor for several years.

How Nape handles these decisions will determine if he succeeds or fails.

Demote and promote from within? That's maybe what he needs to do. But what he did this year is get out coached far too often.

Progress in the "wins over rivals" department shouldn't be too difficult. I believe we got swept by our rivals this season.

Woah.....nothing wrong with the conclusion, but do you have anything to back that up! Would you have fired Nick Saban after he went 6-7 his first year at Bama? I am not saying BN is NS, but this first year is not indicative of future success. Every rebuild is different. And BN has a rebuild on his hands - very different from what Urban or even McElwain inherited. The good thing with Napier is that he is upgrading the talent. That is the one sure thing that can be extrapolated into the future.

I think when people say "delegate more" they are particularly talking about the offensive playcalling. :D

I think Billy also needs to be careful with giving one job to too many people. You do that, and it's hard to have any accountability. And if there's no accountability, someone will ultimately be held accountable, and you can guess who that would be.

Timeouts and overall game management aren't great, but they are deficiencies that can be overcome if you're good in other areas. Again, just not enough going for this team right now.

One of the problems with bringing in a new lower tier guy is that they don’t have the pedigree of connections and mojo to immediately bring in staff and players. A bit of mystique and hype matters. Makes it harder to hit the ground running.

ESD will tell us a lot about the recruiting aspect. And they are on campus.

My biggest concern is simply, did the team progress this year?
