I don't know what ou saw on the field this year that gives you hope that Napier can turn this around. We lost our last 3 games in pretty embarrassing fashion. This staff can't coach at this level.
It's definitely discouraging and embarrassing. But there are too many mitigating issues for it too be rock bottom. I guess I'm defining rock bottom as when you've done everything you wanted to do and everything is the way you like it, but you still lose 30-3. Not that I'm giving everyone a pass. There are both coaches and players who do not belong at UF ( or at least at.their present position).
Most frustrating thing about the game and really the season in general is no repercussions for poor performance. False start, who cares. Dropped pass, get em next time. Missed tackle, you tried. Blown coverage, we have some things to fix.
That's why the slate needs to be wiped clean and the whole thing rebuilt. Program has been rotting from the inside for a decade +. No idea if Napier is the guy to fix it, but this was the culmination of the long term issues. Hopefully it turns from here.
To the OP: No. This was anticipated, although not as bad as the overall outcome. It is a loss, not a TERRIBLE loss. Time to look to the future.
I admit I was incredibly bullish on Napier at first. I have serious, serious, questions on his offensive strategy and game management. But its year 1, he gets at least year 2 before his seat starts burning.
I do not know what everyone expected! We had a QB that had not played and it showed today. The previous regime did not recruit and we just do not have the talent yet.. if we get to year 3 and we are no better then we have a problem.
In response to the thread title, the answer should be obvious if you've been paying attention the last 11 years. "No."
I don't think I have ever been this relieved that our football season is finally over... or relieved at all for that matter. Sad, but true.
I am out on CBN. You have to be able to coach the games. IMO, this team played below their capability all year. There is no way the defense can have the talent worse than 100+ other Div 1 teams. I am not calling for his firing, but I cannot see how long term this is going to be the right choice. Sorry, I did not feel this way before the last 3 games.
This game brought to you by, Old Yeller Bourbon. When things get bad, you can always drink to incoherency. At least it works for me!
It is only the 2nd time in 75 years that Florida has had back to back loosing seasons. Not a good look.
