Here it is: gotta win this year. After that bowl performance we absolutely have to win 8 next year. 6-7 last year felt much different. At least we beat FSU and Vandy and competed in bowl game. Your sorely mistaken if your worried about 2-3 years from now and future qb’s. Norvell has proven Portal can change things. He’s dominating Billy in the portal. That being said, on this scheme no QB in a P-5 conference will lead a team to great heights.
I hear you man, but you’re talking like another QB is the solution to 8 wins next year. The game I’m watching tells me we can’t run block and have zero run game against a pac 12 defense, we can’t put pressure in their QB, we’re struggling mightily to deal with their pressure on Miller, the other team has WRs running wide open all over the place in our secondary, and we can’t stop their run game. We just lost 2 yards trying to run on 4th and 2….. …..and you think a portal QB is gonna solve our problems? Sure man I want everything at once too, but I think a portal QB is way down on the priority list. If we didn’t have two 5* QBs committed I wouldn’t be saying that.
So you would agree with me that we are getting out Coach correct? Scheme is lacking or at the very least we need an offensive coordinator to change things up agree?
We’ve been out-everythinged today pal. But that’s not what we were disagreeing about. A portal QB doesn’t come close to being the solution to our problems. This program is a train wreck, and it was a train wreck before Napier was hired. This is not fixed in one season. Obviously
it’s about scheme or lack there of. I’m not gonna say it’s ok to win 6 in first year. So tired of hearing not fixed in 1 year! So we should have a losing record, get beat by Vandy, and all rivals and not show up for a bowl game? Expectations were 8 wins, not 10 or 11. Plenty of talent to win 7-8. And yes, there was plenty of talent to win 7-8 games this year. Can’t keep blaming 19-20 year old kids. Should never lose to Vandy. Part of problem that most agree with me on is we are getting worked in the portal. No DT’s and no linebackers last year in the portal were major missteps. This year while FSU just picked up two excellent tight end prospects we are fighting Stanford for a high school player.
You’re presenting a completely different argument now Shane. We were arguing over you wanting to solve our problems with another QB from the portal, and I argued that QB isn’t the biggest of our problems and filling other needs should have higher priority. I guess I won that argument because you totally changed the subject
Skink.... You hit on EVERY point of weakness that happened today. Oh annnnd yea... We could not hold the edge again. I played defensive end and then, settled onto offensive tackle. NUMBER ONE job of the DE: Secure the edge! In over 50 years of watching Gator Football... I never seen a season where we failed to hold the edge. Except yea... also last year.

You usually make solid points Shane and I respect your opinion so I don’t see any sense in ruining that over a debate about which Ive lost track of the issue being debated.
Billy better get a great QB and some quality WRs and TEs in the portal. Needs starting experience. No HS kid is going to come in and dominate. Not sure why he took Bowman as a transfer this past year. What did he see in him to waste a ship ? Unless we bring in many starters from the portal, next year could be a lot worse than this year.
