A very very long leash for Jones. I've never seen a college player miss shots so horribly and still get on the court. I just don't understand how he gets minutes. Is it because he got hot 1 or 2 games last year after being horrible most of the season?
Jones has done quite a few of the little things. He's one of our best rebounding guards (maybe the best) and is a little bit better than 3-to-1 asst/to. Agree about his shot, though. Great googily moogily.
I noticed last night against Ohio that on 2 consecutive in-bounds plays under our basket, he stood on the opposite side of the lane and didn't move until the ball was in play.
It's interesting to see all the changes in our starting 5 since the season began. It's mid-Dec, so you'd hope that those 5 are somewhat cemented by the time the SEC season starts in 2 weeks. We are pretty deep and young/new to the system though, so we still might see more big changes as the season progresses
The person you replied to ask if we will be competitive against Kentucky, they have already jelled and are getting better. My reply LOl was because even with us getting better, their depth like UConn will be way too much to overcome. We have some good talent, but when we have beaten Kentucky, we had teams that were physical and great guards. This year I think our problem is the SEC is loaded with great teams with awesome talent. For us to break even with our schedule will be the fight of our lives. So us being competitive With Kentucky this year and knowing even with them going to sleep on us, we won’t be close either Lexington or Gainseville. I like you as a poster so this just hit me funny at that time. I am all in on Gator basketball, but the stars aren’t aligning this year. The beat downs under the boards are a result of not recruiting enough physical bigs over the last decade. I was hoping for more physical players and getting five star recruits, only time will tell if we are still tip toeing through this new recruiting scene, we will see and have to live with it, for better or worse. Go Gators!
Apologize to Felder fans, but Fudge is the future and needs the minutes. Will get better with more playing time. More athletic, better rebounder and D, and gives us a double double opportunity each game.
Fudge is more prone to mistakes at this point in time, but I feel his positives outweigh that right now, and his mistakes will continue to diminish. They already have noticeably diminished since the start of the season. He might be a killer by March.
