Every day this guy gets a little shittier. Such a shame to see him pivot to the deplorables like this.

But his only real competition (if he runs) in the primary is gonna be Trump. Is his plan to out crazy Trump for the far right wing? Cause if so that's a hell of a gamble.

He might be positioning himself to withstand attacks from Trump on how he pushed the vaccine.

Who told you that? Does your being told that change the fact that Desantis is a complete rat right now by trying to pretend he didn’t support the vaccine?

    Is this not pandering?

Very thankful to live in Florida with leadership that follows science and data. Leadership that makes decisions based on reality.

***Funny how you and @lacuna went silent after being shown the UCLA doctor who went political actually wrote a glowing letter of recommendation for Dr. Ladapo right before deciding politics was more important.***

Watching DeSantis’s press conference about this grand jury stuff, it’s crystal clear that he is a sick human being. Unfortunately, what he is doing and has been doing will result in the unnecessary deaths of a lot of innocent people.

Likely when the political winds shifted in the Republican Party, resulting in DeSantis pulling away from backing vaccines and throwing his support behind other solutions.

He's always been a bad person. The man ran on thinly veiled racism in 2018 and has spent his time as governor using the power of the government to attack marginalized communities and our civil liberties.

DeSantis will be a bigger threat than Trump.

Trump shoots from the hip, DeSantis is calculated.

The good thing though is I don’t think Trump moves aside for him.

He didn't do much of this his first year. He was actually pretty good at governing as a moderate conservative until he realized he had a chance to take the Trump lane to the presidency. Then he shifted over to using his power to attack marginalized communities and our civil liberties.

I'm hopeful that once he becomes president he will shift back to the pragmatic moderate he once was, but I'm also worried that once in office he will feel like he has to continue in the persona that got him there.

I distinctly remember hoping the same about trump. That perhaps all the crazy inflammatory things he was saying were just to get elected and that he’d pivot once in office to as not to alienate half the voting bloc. Turned out to be wildly wrong about that. But that’s also a huge reason why trump is no longer president. Had he pivoted and stopped the trolling of more than half the country he’d probably still be president. I think Desantis is smart enough to see this.

No chance he moderates. DeS is like DT in that he surrounds himself with sycophants only and those types are never moderates. They're willing to kuss the ring in pursuit of extremes.

There were numerous posters here saying he didn’t do enough and didn’t support the vaccines.

I don’t see what’re he is saying he didn’t support the vaccines I see he is saying we need to look at all the information including information that wasn’t available in Spring of 2021.

There are plenty of questions about the potential long term safety issues with mRNa vaccines. Fact is although they are effective in lowering the risk of severe covid and death from covid a 9month study is not a long term safety evaluation.

While clinical trials are great it is not out of the realm of possibility that issues become apparent once a drug is given to millions of people. That’s part of the reason the FDA wants pharm companies to do long term safety follow up studies. Those sometimes last for YEARS.

He promoted the vaccines early on, but he also tried to prevent cruise lines and other businesses from requiring vaccines.
