    https://thehill.com/policy/healthca...-call-for-covid-19-vaccine-investigation/amp/

“DeSantis on Tuesday announced his office had petitioned for a grand jury investigationinto alleged “crimes and wrongdoing” against Floridians “related to the development, promotion and distribution” of the COVID-19 vaccines.

“The governor also shared plans to establish Public Health Integrity Committee due to distrust of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), saying “anything they put out, you just assume, at this point, that it’s not worth the paper that it’s printed on.”

He is also shamefully attacking Fauci. There’s no factual basis for it, but the whackadoodles he’s pandering to love it.

“Outgoing White House medical adviser Anthony Fauci said Wednesday that he “doesn’t have a clue” what Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis hopes to accomplish by calling for a state grand jury investigation into alleged “crimes” related to COVID-19 vaccines.

“I don’t have a clue … what he’s asking for. I mean, we have a vaccine that, unequivocally, is highly effective and safe and has saved literally millions of lives,” Fauci, who is also the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), told CNN’s Kate Bolduc.”

At what point does Fauci have grounds for a counter suit?

@QGator2414 should be here anytime now telling us how evil Fauci is and how great Ladapo and Desantis are and that this is in no way politically motivated. It will be then followed by a slew of “come on man” reaction emojis for anyone who says otherwise.

DeSantis will end up being worse for this country than Trump.

Trump's craziness was mostly through disparaging tweets and remarks.

DeSantis is going to talk nicer, but codify the crazy. And he's got a SC to back him up.

Even in the summer of 2021, by which point the vaccine was available to anyone who wanted it, regardless of age, DeSantis was still praising the vaccines as effective and pointing to hospitalizations in the state as proof.

“I think the most important thing with the data: If you are vaccinated, fully vaccinated, the chance of you getting seriously ill or dying from COVID is effectively zero,” DeSantis said in a July appearance in St. Petersburg. “If you look at the people who are being admitted to hospitals, over 95 percent of them are either not fully vaccinated or not vaccinated at all. These vaccines are saving lives. They are reducing mortality.”

DeSantis, on that day, criticized the FDA for stopping the use of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine after several women developed blood clots, which slowed the vaccination rate. “I think that sent a message that maybe this is not something that they should be doing. I think that’s been unfortunate because I took it, I think it’s effective,” he said.

What I don't get is, politically, how does this benefit him? He isn't going to court moderates or the left with pandering like this. He already would have the anti-Vax vote in his pocket, outside of far left antivax hippie moms.

It seems like the same failed strategy Trump just tried. The far right block can only get you so far.

He wasn’t running for office then. The shit has come oozing in since he’s became mentioned so often by the media, which had obviously anointed him.

Had to distract everyone from screwing over homeowners and empowering insurance companies. If you're so proud of your legislation why come out with this vaccine crusade 2 days before the insurance package?

The part I find interesting in all thin is that it's only a 2nd degree misdemeanor for the vaccine makers if the state finds wrongdoing on their part. Seems like a waste of time just to get a misdemeanor conviction, if... at all.

Yeah I find it bizarre, politically. I guess he thinks he needs to do this to win the R primary. It surely doesn’t help him in the general though.

Is that the same Ron DeSantis who bragged about making the vax available to as many people as possible especially those over the age of 65?
This was a press release from the office of Governor Ron back in January 2021.
Governor Ron DeSantis: Florida Putting Seniors First and Leading the Nation in Vaccinations for Those 65+

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT Governor Ron DeSantis Announces Four New Actions to Increase COVID-19 Vaccinations and Prioritize Seniors

Publix and the state of Florida expand COVID-19 vaccinations to an additional 27 store pharmacies and five counties beginning January 14, 2021.

DeSantis expands COVID vaccine access to those that are ‘extremely vulnerable’

Seems like the fact that DeSantis was for the vax before he was against it is not going to play all that well. Also somewhat ironic that Ron DeSantis greatest and perhaps only real accomplishment was vaccinating as many Floridians as possible and for a short period of time even offered the vax to residents of other states.

That was until nonresidents took the governor up on his offer to a greater extent than anticipated.

Maybe that explains the MAGA movement and the love of Trump.

This anti-vaccination/anti-CDC crusade is just the latest in what appears to me to be the Dumbing Down of America Era. Just think of the venerable American institutions and organizations and guiding principles which have some under attack in the last 10 years:
    - the CDC, the world's leading such institution
    - the FBI
    - the CIA
    - the United States Supreme Court
    - our oldest and most respected news outlets branded as "fake news"
    - the truth, at least as indicated by the facts
    - honest and principled public servants, some of whom are ridiculed as "RINO'S"
    - the moral teachings of Jesus
I'm sure there are others I have overlooked.

What DeSantis is doing is in that vein, which makes him unworthy as a president with a noble vision and the leadership to realize our best selves. I didn't vote for Reagan, but I admired that about him. I also admire it about Biden, though I disagree with some of his policies.
