Ok, yea. Buying players is horrible for the game but we are long past that. This has been happening for a long time. Therefore, if I am a billionaire and I want UF to win titles, I am
Absolutely throwing 10/m a year at it or whatever and making elite talent offers they can’t refuse. That was my original point. Not to get into whether or not buying players is good for the sport because I think everybody on this board agrees it’s horrible.

Then, in my rebuttal, I pointed out people complaining about Ruiz and his antics on Twitter are doing the same stupid antics, but on a message board. Like when Ruiz said something about eating pancakes a couple days ago and gator Twitter had a fit over “Ruiz ruining a commitment” which is an absolute joke of a thing to cry about on Twitter and not even true.

I think we mostly agree. Long story short, buy me powerball tickets and I will bring multiple rings back to Gainesville

I don't see anyone moaning about our rich guy, Hatchcock.

I don’t think he is sparring with fans of other teams on Twitter. I don’t follow twitter, so maybe I’m wrong …but things seem a lot quieter in his corner.

I don't like fans or purported fans crying all over social media and getting into Twitter fights but there is a difference in anonymous "fans" and a representative of a university. I don't want my coach, teachers, politicians (let's not go there), etc acting like high schoolers. There is a different standard. At least there should be.

And again, there are many who think the billionaire battle over high school kids is cringey regardless if it's ours or theirs.

SoOTE="Agator88, post: 14645589, member: 23844"]Denny Thompson says this every week on the pod with Hacker. He has other schools contact him in regards to guys who aren't in the portal. Which is why when the portal opens up, guys are signed a day later. They have had a relationship prior to ever being officially in the portal.

He said this week UF probably already has their guy, well if it ends up being Pratt. That would mean he's been in contact while prepping for Tulanes biggest bowl game in school history.

Something doesn't sit right with me when you're part of a team, but still planning your next move with another team behind the scenes. I don't think you can be all in if you're doing this back channel stuff. Granted most probably have an agent or handler doing it for them, so idk.[/QUOTE]
This is the same as applying for a job while you still have a job. Or the same as a headhunter contacting you about a job. If there are rules for schools reaching out then yeah not good. But I'm good with a player reaching out.

He is quiet but he is still spending money, donating to the cause.
People says Ruiz is buying players, so is our guy. Just not spending as much or as vocal.

NCAA did not want to monitor and deal with proper legislation. So they are as guit. If this is what you think college football should be and it appears it is I can’t tell you anything. I fully agree with opportunities for the players to have access to NIL. But buying players and and transferring whenever they didn’t make the depth chart ?? No that is not good for the game we love!

If you choose to believe what our coaches and administration are saying, Hathcock isn’t doing what Ruiz is doing. If you choose to not believe them then we probably can’t find common ground to continue this discussion

The last “high profile” attorney I remember being as obnoxious and boisterous as the subject of these posts, was just sentenced to 14 years in a federal pen… and he was considered as a potential Presidential candidate by some.
Lawyer’s are not omnipotent, nor are Billionaires… even if it seems so. Loudmouths always anger people. Piss off the wrong people and find out.

I choose to believe that Hathcock has given money to the collective, who in turn offers NIL deals to the incoming recruits.

If scholarships are one year contracts the player has the right to seek out a new one every yr.

The difference to me is that Hathcock committed a finite amount to invest, with parameters decided on how it is allocated and spent by the program. Ruiz appears to be really off the cuff & reckless. Just throwing it around to make a point. JMO

He is at a P5 school, but it's not a top tier P5 program. The scenario I had in mind was Napier recruiting Pratt out of high school, at the time he chose Tulane a bigger school than ULL. Now that Napier is at UF, what's to say both guys don't see the opportunity to reconnect on a bigger stage for both people. I'm not saying this is true, 100% hypothetical.

Tough call for sure. It sounds like the WSU coach is dealing with something different from that scenario but now I’m just guessing
