If you have some data showing locking kids out of school was a public health policy disaster, I've got some time to look through it.

My kids were harmed being out of school. But they would have been harmed even more had the virus circulated even more than it was, and someone they knew, such as a teacher, or worse, someone they loved such as a parent, had fallen gravely ill. And I have, in the past, posted two studies, one in the US, and one in Europe, that showed keeping schools closed reduced the spread of COVID.

I've also said time and time again, there is no winning with a global pandemic brought upon by a novel virus. There is only mitigation. And considering, at the time, we had no vaccine, no cure, and very little effective treatment options between 2020 and mid-2021, mitigation was the most prudent course of action. And our mitigation efforts likely saved thousands of lives, including thousands of parents with school age children. As is, 70,000 Americans between the ages of 18 and 49 died from COVID. An additional 195,000 between the ages of 50 and 64. How many had kids in grade school or younger? How many more might have died had schools remained opened?

Today, it's a much different story. We know the vaccine is effective at reducing the chance of a serious outcome from COVID. And we know better how to treat those who are sick. Thanks to medical science. Much different calculus as to if or when to close schools than 2020, when these didn't exist.

facui to this day is pushing to jab kids. This country to this day is pushing for everyone to taken Covid shots. Regardless of whether they have had Covid or not. Regardless of whether they are low or high risk. That is on top of his terrible lockdown advice schools and businesses alike. The man lost his way…

Another empty phrase. Heck, you are arguing for a variety of one size fits all approaches here. You just don't frame them that way because you support them.

I ran 3 cases of family members for rare diseases that weren't diagnosed until too late to save their lives. You want to discuss standards of care or the lack of diagnostics in medicine, I am more than happy to do that. But that isn't what you are doing. You are declaring things as facts without evidence because you like the narrative if they were factual. You are trying to dress up not wanting to acknowledge that you don't really know medicine with the fact that you are declaring your knowledge of such things superior to those that do.

So I should read a book that even you haven't bothered to read but which you got a cliffs notes version second hand?

And in this paragraph, you start by saying that you aren't claiming to be the arbiter, while you declare yourself as somehow superior in your knowledge to them and tell them how to do their jobs. I guess based upon a book your wife read.

Many countries are recommending kids getting a COVD vaccine. Australia advocates all kids 5 and older. In the UK, they advocate 12 and older, and 5 and older for those at high risk. Canada's policy mirrors the US, and the vaccine is advocated for anyone 6 months and older, but boosters are recommended for only those 18 and older. The French want all 5 and older vaccinated, but you must get both parents' permission if the kid is under 18. And Germany says at risk kids under 5, and kids 5-12 need only to get one dose as a recommendation.

I could go on, but the point is, in the entire industrialized, western world, it is clear that kids 12 and older should be vaccinated, per recommended by just about all countries. Kids 5-12 should also get the jab if they are in a high risk category, which in most countries, my 9-year old would fall under. Like Grandpa, like Dad, like Son, we all have mild asthma, which most countries would consider higher risk. And if you live in N. America, predominantly English speaking countries (US and Canada), they recommend kids 6 months and older.

So, are all these countries' top Doctor equivalents to Dr. Fauci all quacks too? They all say kids over 12 should be vaccinated? Or, maybe, they are the ones actually following the science?

This is a good QA. And reality is schools should have never closed anyways. It does not help to slow community spread in any meaningful way.

No evidence school closures reduce the spread of COVID-19

It is so unfortunate the harm we caused those who need the most help.

Thanks for linking to an actual peer reviewed, scientific paper. Interesting that the paper says one reason Japan may have not seen an effect by closing schools is masking. First, Japanese were, and still are fanatical about mask wearing. Kids were still wearing masks this summer and refused to take them off, even in extreme heat.

Second, a Boston study where all but 2 districts removed a mask mandate was a good experiment regarding masks in schools. The results? Unmasked doll districts had more cases in school, and in the community.

Note, none of this was known at the start of the pandemic.

There is nothing to show your kids would have been harmed more by being in school. There is no evidence to show teachers died more from Covid being in the classroom. I am sure there were a few other countries as dumb as some of our states and stayed closed for extended periods.

The harm caused by closing schools will be the worst public health disaster of our lifetimes. You are fortunate with a stable family and advantages many don’t have. It is unacceptable what we did to the most disadvantaged kids.

Hong Kong in a panic. 91% vaccinated and universal masking. Dirty little secret: nothing works against the PCR test which is the basis for pan-panic. Say again: there is no pathogen, only a test and the panic it sustains ...
