Should we stop recruiting guys committed elsewhere now?

There was mutual interest and BN is not going to stop until the ink is dry somewhere. Walker likes UF… Walker likes the staff… Walker takes visits to see if there is a chance he may have a change of heart. He didn’t.

 

One can never tell about recruits that go elsewhere...
It may take a year being on a crappy team...
They may get ticked off at their position coach...
Tired of playing in front of 20,000 fans...
And then, they opt for the portal and come to Florida.
I personally predict that this will happen in the coming years.
Florida is playing the long game... and the long game always wins.

At the end of the day recruiters recruit. We can find hundred reasons why he chose OSU. All the kid needs is one reason to come to UF - the flagship state school and has a good relationship with the coaching staff. Rememeber Clemson signing Sammy Watkins and the all world RB when Urban was coaching here? Clemson was a laughing stock then and they still signed these guys. Bottom line is Florida needs to recruit better. We have a coach who takes pride in recruiting. Let him build the relationships and we will see. 2024 will tell me where we are headed. We need Keary Colbert to be that star recruiter that Hartline is.

Hope you are right. Its almost getting to the point where I can see a university shutting down their recruiting budgets and just asking players what’s your price. Use the expense of travel, hotel, food, DJ booths, and all other resources to just pay players directly. NIL has saved Miami football.

 

Miami was always getting 5* kids lol. Talent has never been the issue there, it's everything else that's the problem.

I agree. I also think Coach Napier and staff can make that determination pretty quickly, maybe increasingly fast now after the CB trolling situation, and this is part of who takes themselves out of the process. If we can land a top tier player on our terms, fine. Get into bidding wars and disrupt the locker room? Nope. I am honestly somewhat happy we didn't get the Miami mercenaries. What will their price be to stay for year #2? Year #3?

Don't let this expected decision turn things into the mess we had around here in June . . . Missing out on Rashada. Oh wait.

 

WHO??? If a 5 star kid wants to visit are we supposed to say “no” because he’s leaning elsewhere? Who did we snub by having an OV weekend for 7 kids?

If there seems to be mutual interest, you let them come …wine them and dine them… give them your best recruiting sales pitch and hope for the best. I really have no idea why this is an issue with some of you. This board was ablaze with under Mac & Mullen because most felt like they did not want to put in the effort with the big fish.
