This isn't a thread for the complainers. There is one of those below. Don't come on here telling guys like me that you are done or lost the passion, blah blah blah. Tell me about you being a fan this year. For me, it' 5 games in the swamp after having moved out of state. Buying gear as always. I'm more focused on how CBN tries to right the ship and candidly less about certain players. I just want TE and MJ to kill it running. Want Rashada to win SEC fresh of the year. If a long snapper who I can't recall wants to move on, buh bye. Same for a TE who rode the pine. So I do the chomp for folks across the USA wearing gator gear. I say hello to gator fans. Made friends this year with the Salty Dog owner and talked a ton of football. Sat in the sun for the EW game, man it was great. Tell me your favorite moments this past year? And DEBBIE DOWNERS STAY AWAY
Going to Vegas Bowl and am giddy like a kid at Christmas-Gator games have been TV only since I moved to California. Excited about what CBN is building.
After attending the LSU loss, attending the SCAR win was a ton of fun and a nice balm for a shaky season. Also, as my aunt gets older - someone who I have attended Gator games with since I was single digits and a surrogate Mom to me since I lost mine when I was 26 - I really, deeply, truly cherish each game we can attend in person together. Because there will come an awful day when we won’t be at them together anymore side by side in the seats, so I try and fully value each one from start to finish until then.
Only game I could attend was Vanderbilt . . . took my oldest son. Despite the loss, it was GREAT to be around so many fellow Gators! From the pre-game tailgating through the end and the trudge back to the truck. As far as buying Gator gear, I get a new Game Day flag and caps and shirts and usually hoodies every season.
64 years ago I attended my first Gator game. My Mom and Dad took me and my oldest sister to see the Gators beat Tulane 34-14 and I relived that game, especially Don Deal breaking loose for a long TD run, a kajillion times on the way home that afternoon. Believe this or not, when I attend games now, which is 2-5 times a year, I always look over to the north part of the west stands and envision my beautiful Mom and handsome Dad with me and my sister, decked out in our Sunday best, watching our beloved Gators. Also envision myself, as a young teen, sitting in the stands with my Grandfather. He always wore a gray suit and white Stetson hat and carried a pint of Early Times with him at the games. He lamented when we lost and celebrated when we won. Sorry to carry on so, but my oh my what wonderful, bittersweet memories.
Oh, yes, gear. I usually try to grab one or two new T-shirts each season. And I always wear a Gator shirt my next outing after a game, win or lose. Usually means the grocery store, but the spirit of not being fair weather is still there!
Favorite memory this year had to be the Utah game. I wasn’t dreaming of the playoffs, but definitely thought a 10 win season was possible at the time (and that AR would be a Heisman candidate).
That's great, and I'm not superstitious or anything like that, but maybe take one for the team and skip that game next time around. Lol... j/k.
No worries my friend . . . @MCB51 has already decreed that I am banished from all Florida games in Nashville for 2-years!
That is correct..no more Nashville games for you lol..we hadn't lost there since late 80s...my parents went to take one ..they were also banned..they never went back...so now you go..and see what happened lol...
I went to Utah, LSU , and Clowntown this year. Utah was great and the other two were at least interesting games.
I attended the Texas A&M game. This was my first away game for the Gators not counting bowl games. I live in Texas, but it was great being surrounded by so many Gators. I bought tickets to the game earlier in the year expecting to lose, so like many others I was pleasantly surprised. My military buddy passed away earlier in the year, so we did not get a chance to meet up for a quasi-annual meet-up game in the Swamp per tradition. The good thing about that is that it reminded the rest of us to hold onto these moments just a little more. Losing football games sucks, but in the grand scheme it is just a game. Enjoy them while you can.
When I went to our Sugar Bowl game with ND and we lost..then I went again when we played fsu right before I started graduate school January 95..we lost..I was banned by my family of going to Sugar bowl games lol..so I didn't go when we played WV...we won..and absolutely could not go to the NC game..and we won ..no I did not go to the bowl when we played Nebraska lol
I have banned myself from post-season because every time we’re in the Outback Bowl against the Big 10 and I go, we lose. Seen several Michigan and Iowa losses in person. Then I tested if it was just a post-season thing by flying out to our opener versus Michigan in Texas since I also have friends out that way, so a visit to them as well. We lost. So, I am also banned from any future Michigan games regardless of the timing. Possibly from the Big 10 games in general. Really, I’m just sticking to The Swamp, where my attendance juju is nominally better. LOL
