Apparently, there has been a hoax at McDonald's in Louisville where a guy calls in and pretends to be a police officer, and directs the on-duty manager to strip search a specific teenage female employee. There is police radio chatter in the background, and the "cop" claims to be on another line with McDonald's executives, and mentions the store manager by name as having authorized it. Astoundingly, the on-duty manager falls for it, and the teenage girl takes off all her clothes, humiliated.

The surprising thing is that it's happened before to McDonald's (at several locations), and they failed to communicate it to all stores. That little mistake might cause them to be on the wrong end of a lawsuit. Just phenomenally irresponsible corporate behavior.

It also happened to other fast food stores. One manager at Applebees received a warning about the hoax calls a month prior, but was too stupid to remember it, and fell for it anyway. They should have warned ALL employees about the hoax. I promise you the teenage girl would remember it.

A hoax most cruel: How a caller duped McDonald's managers into strip-searching a worker

I mean what the literal crap?

No excuses. Who falls for this?
Fire them all and arrest those who warrant it. (Including the manager on duty!)

Looks like the first victim was the manager. Not sure it would make any sense morally or legally to fire a victim but difficult for me to envision how this played out if it's true. Did she take a customer into a back room to do this, and what did she tell the customer? I'm not saying it didn't happen, but my spidey senses are going off here.

It says this article was published in 2005. That’s 17 years ago. Seems like this thread should be closed

Yeah, but strip searching an employee did seem over the top for that "manager" at any time during the hoax?

Sorry, but there is NO reasonable excuse for a manager of a FAST-FOOD JOINT to strip search an employee.

The manager on duty conducts a strip search based on a phone conversation?

Heck yeah that manager should be fired.

    Am I missing something here?

    On pornhub?

Actually, there was a real movie made about it in 2012 called “compliance” … I looked it up.
