I can see paying a lot of money if that type of player can give your offense a tweak that you can't get from 3 stars. I can see that in Samson and Kearney but not the Francis dude.

 

I'm not missing what you are saying. That system(CBA) doesn't exist yet. And even if it did, it won't stop NIL.
As an example, school A offers 25 million as agreed in the CBA. School B matches offer. School B's NIL/billionaire offers another 2/3 million in NIL money.
Player picks school B for the extra money. No brainer.
CBA with university and outside NIL money are two separate income streams.

this kind of an argument seems like spin to me to make ourselves feel better and poo poo a decision we don’t like.

NFL will draft on measurables and upside even without development. Just look at our own AR. No one can claim he is developed. But he will be a likely first round pick. NFL will find you and draft you even sans development.

Only at certain positions. Plus…getting drafted in the 4th round because you went to UM instead of the first because you went to UF, big difference.

That is true. Part of these decisions may be what is thought to be taking guaranteed money now - and big money over nfl money down the road but…taking money now can help if there are injuries or something else that happens while in college. Hard to see long term views at 18.
