The flaws of policing are policing itself. Maybe there are kind-hearted members of the mafia too, but if you voluntarily choose that line of work, prepare to be judged by it.

I see a lot of police interaction videos (because I have no life). I could be wrong, but it seems like LEOs in Florida are more inclined to use the phonetic alphabet and numerical codes than some other places. I suspect it's partly to minimize confusion wrt pronunciation and maybe also so that civilians have difficulty understanding what is being communicated.

As an aside, anyone who's really bored one night should go down the Jeremy Dewitte rabbit hole on YouTube.

The sentiments a person shares are more telling than the line of work they choose. There is no need to judge when someone tells you what they are. You dance on people's graves because of a profession they were in regardless of how they did it and who they were.

    I'll leave it at that.

And if their line of work is sex trafficking? You're thinking they might be one of the good ones that's nice to the girls?

I am fine with criticizing cops, particularly given the amount of power they wield and the extent to which they often cover for one another. But I don't get the analogy here. Is there any functioning society that doesn't have policing? If we agree that policing must be done, then someone has to do it. At that point, we're just debating how it should be done and trying to screen out and maintain the best people for the job. But you and I would probably agree that at least part of our policing problem is the war on drugs, the criminal justice system, generally, the number of guns in circulation, etc.

Well, if we are simply using how we live now as the template, perhaps the analogy is apt, because is there any functioning society that doesn't have some kind of exploitative sex work? Are we not allowed to think of a world where we might not need to empower a criminal enterprise to contain crime, or have people sell sex to make ends meet?

I was heading to my storage unit down firestone/rampart coming from 103rd. About 100 cop cars had a road about midway between 103rd and Collins heading towards Ricker Rd. blocked off. Would have been a good day to rob a bank.

This looks like one of those threads where WGB starts thinking so hard about how to win the argument, that he simultaneously seems to abandon actually thinking at all.

Ah, 7200 block of Morse. I live in the Argyle Forest area so I frequently drive by that area whenever I have stuff to do on the Westside.
