1997 UF-F$U when Quez Green hauled in the pass burning Samari Rolle and getting us down to the 20. I was in the West Stands, north 20 yard line about 15 rows up.

It was like a grenade went off and all you heard was your ears ringing.

Copied my response from a recruiting thread.

I was fortunate enough to be there for the Lawrence Wright hit and the 97 game.

Seeing these young bucks only talking about games from recent years as loud is a reminder as to how much time has passed since those spurrier years but I'll add my commentary that no one asked for.

91 fsu was as intense a game from beginning to end that's been played at the Swamp. Only comparison and it may be a draw is 97 fsu. Matthews to Houston was a mad house and so was Del Speer taking out Matt Crier as the ball fell just out of his reach on the last play. Underrated game in Gator history. Doesn't get enough mentions.

Larry Kennedy pick 6 in 1991 was loud. Payback game for road loss the year before and the unfathomable sign the UT student section held up during the game. One of the most tasteless classless acts to this day.

93 fsu. Jack Jackson juggling touchdown catch to get back in it. Also the prior 2 downs to the clip that sprung Dunn to end the comeback.

94 Hambrick Pick 6 before half against the dogs in the Swamp.

95 Tennessee. Several turnovers to choose from that led to eruptions from the crowd hut we all know nothing tops Wright rearranging Kent's face.

97 Tony George pick 6 on Payton Manning. Was there for this one too and it was loud.

97 fsu. Referees for the game stated on recorded they never took part in a more intense game. They said the crowd would just explode for a 5 yard pass like it was a touchdown and it's true. We expected fsu would annihilate our QB since we had significant offensive issues that year and they were the best defense in the country. Just having time to throw was a surprise so even short gains were cheered. They barely laid a hand on Doug and Noah and recorded no sacks. Not sure what was the loudest but "green's behind the defense", Fred's 20 yard scamper to the 1, his following 1 yard touchdown or Dwayne Thomas interception to seal the win were all incredibly loud.

2004 the swindle had many moments. Cheers and boos.....

2006 Reggie nelson pick 6 in another payback game for the year before.

2006 cock block. Right there with 91,93, 97 for loudest ever.

2008 lsu had moments. Harvin for the opening td was pretty loud.

    Grier to Calloway

    Franks to Cleveland

    Burrow pick 6

Perine breaks it outside for 80 and a td

    All incredibly loud moments.

Early 80s were just a hair before my time so while I was around, I wasn't old enough to appreciate or experience USC and a few other games that might make mention.

57:20 mark for the long touchdown pass and crowd noise.

Also, I can't say enough about how much I miss those ESPN Saturday night broadcasts. Today's broadcasters are so generic and they filter out the crowd noise too much.

do tell - I do not remember this, but the hint of this memory is jogging my brain. the time frame and your reticence makes me think it was connected to the Student Murders, but gosh I hope not.

Gainesville resident, born and raised 7 blocks from the stadium. Cock Block was the loudest I have ever heard from my backyard since the Rolling Stones played the Swamp.

those UF/UT games in the mid-90s were the loudest thing I ever experienced at the stadium.

    "our students don't get killed"

There is talk today that it was a rumor that has now become urban legend but I find it hard to believe that was created by Gator fans mis-remembering the events. I had older friends who were attending UF and traveled to games back then who stated it. Regardless, the 91 game was a payback game in Gainesville that reportedly had several and significant negative interactions between uf fans and the tennesse bench as well as crowd. That game I believe is what led to the current seating arrangements for visitors right behind the visiting bench.

That was the game where claims were made that UF fans threw cups of drinks and possibly urine at Tennessee fans and players. Who knows but the series turned ugly for a few years stemming from that 1990 game.

1986 Auburn game when Kerwin Bell ran in the two-point conversion. Finished a most improbable come-back.

From beginning to end was probably the closest thing to games in the 90s.
