I did see that what was once an award for juniors and seniors is going to younger athletes.

 

Because now he is 25. Ed Reed was a two star with limited offers. But seven years later he was in the NFL. Stetson Bennett had completed his degree before he won a title. He is being paid to play football, hence a professional.

 

Most every player is being paid on the college level ! Hence they are professionals
