Yup, that back up QB has stats of 24 of 32 for 279 yards and 4 TDs. Same 8.7 yard per attempt. To me, that’s a sign that Stetson isn’t so as valuable and more like they can have a plug and play. The top 4 receivers on that team are 2 TEs, a WR, and a RB. Maybe he is good at executing their game plan, but he is faaaaaar from best player in the country.
This board is getting better and better. First we have a Beav coming in piece, and now hookers. On the other hand, this Heisman lineup is a threat to cause widespread ED. How old is Bennett anyway? 30?
This was funny, thanks. But is it really true? I mean, physically yes. But doesn't Bennett have pretty good numbers?
Stetson Bennett is not a college quarterback, he is a professional quarterback that plays in a lesser league. Watching the USMNT in the World Cup has sharpened by feelings on this. Christian Pulisic has played at Chelsea for three seasons, and in Germany before that; Tyler Adams captained the team through the World Cup; both are younger than Stetson Bennett (both are also younger than Hendon Hooker). College football is changing, and I do not see SB as the "most outstanding player in college football", I see him as a decent pro who has found his level.
I'm a stat guy, and this is a little misleading. Georgia, as a team, has only thrown a total of 24 TD's all season. Its been extremely run heavy, especially in the red zone..out of 71 red zone attempts, they have 30 rushing TD's vs 18 passing. That's a total of 39 rushing TD's vs 24 passing, meaning passing only makes up 38% of the TD's. Plus, and I can't find the exact number, Bennett has only thrown for just over 300 yards total in the 4th quarter in 13 games. Not only that, but there have been 4-5 games where he didn't even see the field in the 4th quarter, and a few where he was limited even in the 3rd. Couple this with a team that has been typically run heavy in the second half, and its difficult to pad stats. That being said, I still don't think he's the best QB. At all. Do I think Georgia would be undefeated with Duggan or Stroud? Nope. Williams? Absolutely.
First: The Heisman trophy should not be awarded until after the NCG. Second: Bennett deserves it because he has won an SEC championship and a NC regardless of how many good players Georgia has. The only Heisman award given to a player on a losing team was Paul Hornung back in the fifties. No player can be great without a good team around him. I'm a die hard Gator (class of '65) and hate to go with a dawg. Bennett's story is movie worthy.
Stetson Bennett is this year's Gino Toretta...a consistent game manager QB whose team wins because of the talent surrounding him. That being said, I would have traded him for AR in a New York second.
