    Good point. I didn't think of rescues. It seems animaltarian, but I wonder what the inner life of a lion is, no longer able to roam, no longer with a pride, no longer needing to hunt for food. Is it as content as I am, retired from from a productive and more active life? I like to think so.

    Good question, but I don't think they exactly retire. If I recall, older ones are killed by their younger rivals
