I get your point, but do you really want our coaches wasting their precious recruiting time on this guy? I think their energy will be better used on Ricks and the guys still left on the board. He’s one dude and has wasted enough of our time already.

If he was worth spending time recruiting until a month ago, then it's not a waste.

Obviously you have to make an assessment as to how serious he might be about flipping and weigh that against the time and resources you'd invest in the pursuit. I'm not an insider so I don't know the answer to that. But the entire context of this conversation has been the assumption that he wants out of Miami's class, so I'm going with that for the sake of the argument.

I say sorry. Our DB class is solid as is and at this point he would be a distraction more than anything else. I hope Raymond sticks with the loyalty our DBs have shown so far. Cormani created the problem so I don't feel bad for him. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose. And spare me the "but Kearney" crap.

I'm no more conversant with the details and inner workings of this situation than any other average poster on this board. But there are some things that seem to be self-evident, along with some easy to draw inferences, that make me extremely leery of this guy. I know there has been some back and forth concerning CM's degree of forthrightness in his dealings with the coaches concerning his true intentions prior to the commitment to Miami. Whether or not he intentionally deceived BN and CR is known only to the parties involved. But at the time, I saw the nasty smirk and the Gator hater shirt that he pointed to in the commitment video, and it really disappointed me. If he didn't intentionally punk us going in, he sure as hell bought into it in the moment.

Recently, I saw a report on a cane board that the "flip" was agreed to at least two weeks before his announced commitment date - and that the whole thing was a chicken schytt stunt concocted by the nice folks in scUM town for the sole purpose of sticking the knife in as deep as possible and then twisting it. Now, it seems that as ESD draws near, CM is having second thoughts about his decision. If Bama lures him away and leaves UM looking like the no-class fools they are, then more power to them. It serves them right. But the entire episode reminds me of the old adage; when somebody tells you who they are, believe them the first time. Personally, I've seen enough to believe that CM is not the kind of person that BN wants in his locker room, and I would be surprised if we expend any more time or effort in pursuing him. We have other, fresher fish to fry and not much time to do it.

This is a tough one to call. I say if he is willing to sign on early signing day and we don’t in turn lose any current commits over it let’s go.

Just because he is probably the best athlete at his position doesn’t mKe him a good teammate ( see Cox) I rather take a guy that is less skilled but understands their roll in the system and is a team player.. guys like this can punch a hole right through your culture.. I’ve coached kids with mentalities like his and they are toxic from the start. Give me a kid that is coachable and is willing to grow within the system and you have yourself one hell of a player!

If Raymond was still at Lsu he would already be committed to Lsu. But he really likes Raymond a lot and wants to be coached by him.

I love how everyone acts like they know what is happening and judging the kid. The same ones that are like "drama queen, I hate the drama" are the ones still having in depth conversations on message boards about him.

I agree. I don't think BN and Co. goes all out to woo him, but they would make a spot if he really wanted in. We can guess all we want on what actually happened, but for me he never verbally committed to us in the first place. All that other stuff is just fluff I care little about and is between the coaches and CM.

Now, had he verbally committed to us, then signed his LOI elsewhere, then that would be something completely different. We would have had spent a lot more time and effort on him up to signing day.
