Sure, but not a virus. Did you ever answer why you dissed belief in God but believe in viruses ?

I’m undecided on “god” - whatever that means. I don’t believe in the Christian god though. I was raised a fundamentalist but now wholly reject the Bible as man written horse shit (albeit with some great lessons if you can extract them from the supernatural woo-woo). I suspect some higher power exists. Otherwise I think nothing would exist instead of something.

Yes I believe viruses exist because I’m not an abject moron.

Now please tell me how polio was not a virus. I’ll hang up and listen.

Look out. You are about to be called all sorts of fun things with ad hominem attacks lol.

Well said! This will definitely get under the skins of some here. Don’t know why. But I really think if I told some here to not jump. They would jump just because I said not to and I have been saying this basic thing for 2.5 years.

Do you not believe in viruses because you can't see them? Or is there some other reason?

I don't actively see plants using photosynthesis to get nutrients but I believe it is a thing. Do you?

Okay, so I get that you acted out with your fundamentalist and have defaulted to laziness, read: agnosticism. Set that aside ...

You believe, based on authority (and fear of ridicule) that viruses exist. Your belief in viruses is bolstered by witnessing simultaneous illness.

You infer that, if two people are ill then a microorganism must have been passed from one person to another.

Conclusion: you’re a believer just as I am. And so’s your uncle.

There’s more than that to my position. But see my response to Cypress ...

You perceive my indecision as laziness and I perceive your rock ribbed certitude about the existence of your special pet god as the height of egocentricity. Yes the whole universe was created for man. Get over yourself.

Now please explain to me how polio is not a virus.

I am by no means certain that the Christian God or any god exists. Faith in no way precludes doubt.

The principle reason why I rule out viruses, but not God, is because whereas I cannot put God under a microscope ( perhaps we’re under his microscope!) I can put viruses under a microscopic.

    And they aren’t there.

That said, the Bible, whatever you think about it ( due to the psychological effects of your brush with fundamentalism) is God-centered, not man-centered.

Not trying to derail this thread any further into god talk. I’ll ask a third and final time for you to explain why polio is not a virus and if you don’t then we’re done here. Have a blessed day.

Did you consider accounting for advancements in medical science? Wait sorry, I'm in the wrong place and must have forgotten that medical science = fake news.

Polio does not exist as a virus in the same way that no other disease exists as a virus. No virus has ever been isolated. There are adequate alternative explanations for illness and, for that matter, simultaneous illness. Finally, all illness and death attributed to viruses can be attributed to other causes. Shall I (re)post references ?

Traditional microscopes, viruses are too small to see. But electron microscopes? Do a fine job of picturing viruses. Here's COVID pictured by an electron microscope.

As for the Great Barrington Declaration, it has massive issues. This link does a good job listing them. Herd immunity and trying just to protect the most vulnerable was also the direction the UK first took when COVID hit. How long did it take them to realize what a disaster it was? A few weeks? Yet, that's the plan we should have followed? Again, great comedy.

Much of it is. I would go so far as to say foundationally it is.

I’ve already posted critiques of electron microscopy.

It’s not that we lack the means to see things as small as viruses are presumed to be, it’s that we presuppose viruses then purport to find them among stained artifacts.

I was a signatory of the GBD. Then requested that my name be removed on learning they were advocating for vaccines.

But suffice it to say, if viruses don’t exist, then concepts like herd immunity are meaningless.

In retrospect, GBD should have carried the day if only because it would have fostered less upheaval.

So what was the cause of the “simultaneous illness” that was called polio if not a virus? Explain yourself.

Excuse me, please step to the back of the line. It's not your turn. When it is your turn, you will be notified. (Don't hold your breath ;).)

Polio was generally defined as paralysis which can stem from numerous factories ranging from toxins (which are real) to the very vaccines purporting to prevent the condition. And it still exists today, albeit under different names. Ex: I have two friends whose GBS were attributed, by their doctors, to vaccines.

I'm sorry but I'm unaware of any medical procedures that can meaningfully prolong the life of people who are at or near life expectancy who fall ill. Are you?
