SIAP, but here’s a video on NIL with two Gator gymnasts. College Athletes Are Cashing In on the NCAA’s New Rules

As someone who follows the team but not super close, what the rundown on this years squad? Anyone have a breakdown of all 4 events and who they think will be our top Gators in each event? Specifically what we are looking at with the newcomers. Do we have another Wong coming in?
To me, there are several questions that need to be answered: 1. Which of the gymnasts are willing to commit to a college team first attitude? For example, who is willing to step up and be the Megan Skaggs of 22 in 23? Megan was described by Jenny Rowland to be her secret weapon leading off each of the events. A strong start to each event sets the tone for the following gymnasts. 2. Commitment to win as a team, chemistry? I want to see the gymnasts competing for every .1 of a point as if the season depended upon it. That attitude exhibited by Oklahoma in the 22 Finals was the difference between UF finishing second instead of first. Every gymnast should embrace the pressure and be determined to smash it and win regardless of the circumstances. To answer your question, UF is the most loaded team in the nation. If we see positive answers to questions 1 and 2, it is close to a lock that UF will end up winning the 23 national championship. Talent is not an issue. Everything between the ears has to be right. Those are the gymnasts I want to see filling out the lineup cards.
I get more enjoyment participating on the Diamond Gators and "other sports" forums where the discussion is generally about highly ranked teams, very successful coaches and great trouble free athletes
To be #1, you have to beat #1 when it counts most: Gators No. 2 in 2023 WCGA Preseason Poll - Florida Gators I'd have Michigan State and UCLA a bit higher: WCGA – 2023 Pre-Season Coaches Poll Rank Team Points First Place Votes Date with Florida 1 Oklahoma 1727 22 March 3 - away 2 Florida 1724 21 3 Utah 1648 2 4 Michigan 1600 4 5 Auburn 1509 Jan. 13 - home 6 LSU 1434 Feb. 17 - away 7 Alabama 1395 Jan. 20 - away 8 California 1325 9 Missouri 1262 Feb. 10 – home 10 UCLA 1242 11 Kentucky 1154 Feb. 24 - home 12 Michigan State 1129 13 Denver 1119 14 Oregon State 1066 15 Arkansas 1043 Feb. 3 – away 16 Minnesota 1042 17 Stanford 1007 18 Iowa 952 19 Ohio State 844 20 Georgia 794 Jan. 27 - home 21 Washington 768 March 12 - away 22 BYU 674 23 Illinois 674 24 Arizona State 583 25 Arizona 548
So far, I am pleased with the team attitude of the new gymnasts. We will see how it plays out, but I am optimistic.
College Gym News released their Top 36 on Nov 25th. Their methodology is simple. Each editor that wanted to participate submitted their top 36 teams for the 2022 season. Lists were submitted privately and no discussion was allowed beforehand to be able to produce as unbiased and accurate a ranking as possible. They then assigned a numerical value to each place, with each editor’s first-place team earning 36 points, second place taking 35 points and so on through No. 36. Each team’s points were then added up to determine the overall order. The top 36, the point totals and the amount of first-place votes where applicable can be found below, as well as additional teams that earned points but did not make the top 36: College Gym News 2023 Preseason Poll 1. College Gym News Toughest Lineups for Freshmen to Crack Between historically strong lineups and retaining last season’s class of seniors, some lineups will definitely be harder to break into than others. While we won’t know for sure until Week 1 of competition, some team’s returners have laid down the gauntlet for freshmen and coaches alike. Below are some top picks for the hardest lineups to break into in 2023. Beam: Florida If Cal’s previously mentioned bars lineup has an embarrassment of riches, we don’t have any words left for Florida’s beam depth. Last season head coach Jenny Rowland rotated nine athletes in and out of six spots, with the six who were in long enough to have NQS scores all registering 9.900-plus. A healthy Ellie Lazzari (and her NQS of 9.956 from 2021) will challenge for the top six. Then there’s the question of how four former elites fit in: Rachel Baumann, Kayla DiCello, Morgan Hurd and Victoria Nguyen. How will Rowland slot five gymnasts into two spots opened from Megan Skaggs and Alyssa Baumann, and how many second chances are there room for come competition? Beam Honorable Mentions: Oregon State, Washington, Denver For Vault, Bars and Floor, see full article here
Each Top 8 Team’s Biggest Problem The season is less than a month away! We’ve seen intrasquad and training footage, tracked injuries and scoured social media to get a sense of where teams are heading into next year. With just weeks to go to Week 1, we took a look at the biggest problem each team in nationals-qualifying position from our preseason poll is facing, plus a few teams outside the top eight that have big years coming. No. 2 Florida: An Embarrassment of Riches Try to pick the Florida lineups. It’s impossible. Former National Team members will be on the proverbial bench. Of course, this could be a good problem to have, but it could also mean that it’s very challenging for Jenny Rowland to find her highest-potential top six. Full article in College Gym News
See post #93. I was going to post that Jenny will probably have 8 to 10 gymnasts that she could select from to fill each of the six positions for each apparatus without losing any scoring potential. And I’m not talking about the same 8 to 10 for each apparatus. We are crazy deep with new additions, including recruits and transfers and ladies returning from injuries.
FYI, I'm not much of an Instagram user, but if you're a Gator gymnastics fan, you should check it out. Our team members post there very often. Sometimes it's parts of their practice, sometimes it's just them being silly and sometimes it's NIL sponsorships. Very much worth checking out. You can get to know their personalities even more.
OMG. Just realized that only two weeks from today is our first meet! Wow. Can't wait to see what this team becomes.
Quad meet with Ball State, Lindenwood, and West Virginia televised on SEC Network+ at 6:45 PM. You can watch this on your ESPN Watch App. This is a reminder of what we will be tracking as the 23 season moves forward and how close UF came to winning the 22 national championship: Standings (roadtonationals.com) OU pulls Olivia Trautman out of the moth balls in time to finish strong as they did last season. UF needs to go big all season. When it comes to the NCAAs, the Gators will have to be the most talented, experienced, and hardnosed team in the country fighting for every .1 of a point. UF lost to OU in the final by .122. I don't want to see a reversal of this, I want to see a smashing reversal.
College Gym News Predicts 2023 National Champion: 2023 Predictions: Which Team Will Win the NCAA Title in 2023? - College Gym News Oklahoma and Florida were the only teams to receive votes from the staff of 7 voters at College Gym News. They headline with OU getting 5 votes and UF getting 2 votes. However, whomever wrote the article needs to learn to count votes as the actual vote is OU 4 and UF 3. One voter actually said OU is going to dominate from January 6 forward. This is why I want the Gators to dominate right from the start as I stated in post #99. OU did lead from start to finish last season and their plan worked. OU will be out to dominate every meet to stay on top of the NQS.
